My Bio
I've been an artist all my life (over half a century... ¯(ツ)/¯ ), along with my scientific/medical careers. I work in physical & digital media, ranging from Medieval illumination & colored pencil paintings, jewelry & collage to photography & altered images through fabric/fiber arts and digital paintings & cartoons. It's hard to distill 50+ years of eclectic artistic, literary and musical tastes into a few slots, so my interests are just a snapshot of how I feel today! I hope you enjoy my expressions of my vision - I welcome all non-hateful comments.

~mossyfrog is featured prominately in my favs because he's a wonderful photographer, but also my kid...

I'm Dragonmum on many sites, DragonmumLes on Vine and AGenderLes on Disqus.

It's been ages since I've updated anything! I've been having a lot of encouragement to have an IRL show of my art, so I figured I ought to get more stuff up on here. My favorite recent things have been some fabric/pastel collages and learning to make...

Dabble Dabble Dabble...

Dabble Dabble Dabble...

Over the years I've accumulated quite an eclectic collection of my own artwork. I move from one medium to another, sampling this, playing with that, coming back to favorites or incorporating one technique into another. For me, the challenge of a new form of expression trumps the struggle to master only one or two. Sometimes pieces just pop up and surprise me. The Qaddafi portrait is one of those. As soon as I saw the photo on the BBC website, I felt I needed to draw that face. His stance and expression were so iconic; they seemed to capture the quirky arrogance of this strange, ruthless man. So here he is, along with collage notecards, nature

Marvels of the Weekend

Marvels of the Weekend

Watching a man step off the edge of his fragile craft and plunge toward the distant planet, I was suddenly aware of how safe I've made my life. Not that I haven't faced stuff that would scare the innards out of most people, like cancer - but those things aren't frightening to me, so it doesn't count as bravery. Bravery is doing something despite being scared to death. Watching an entire episode of "the Walking Dead" is about the scariest thing I usually do. Starting to put my art out to the world scares me; I'm moving out of my comfort zone and trying to be emotionally braver. So far, so good!
