Dragon Pokemon by DragonlordRynn Dragon Pokemon by DragonlordRynn
“Pokemon can be classified by following criteria: A low reproduction rate (with the offspring being in most cases of its mother’s species), supernatural abilities like extended longevity (in some cases, as seen in the so-called ‘Legendary Pokemon’, it exceeds several thousand years), the ability to control different elements, large-sized bodies, a sudden second and third mutation/maturity stage, some of which are triggered by the radiation of different ores (and a newly-discovered fourth stage, the ‘Mega-Evolution’ which is triggered by ‘Mega Stones’), and near-human/superhuman intellect, even in animals like arthropods. It was generally believed that Pokemon where a whole different act of Creation, or even extraterrestrial life-forms. In 1850 however, when a female West-Highland Terrier gave birth to a litter of Lillipups, people began to realize that Pokemon did come, in fact, from normal animals. This caused several theories to spring up until in 1976 the young Pokemon Professor Samuel Oak discovered a virus in one of his samples. First, he believed it to be a contamination, but then curiosity got the better of him. He noted a section in the virus’ DNA he found oddly familiar. In a sample of his Charizard’s DNA, he recognized the exact same section of viral DNA. This lead to a breakthrough in Pokemon research, explaining exactly where Pokemon came from: The ‘Pokerus’ Virus affects the reproductive organs, slipping its genetic information into its hosts gametes and changing the offspring to mutate into Pokemon.”

Dragons do not belong to only one family of Pokemon. There are many different families that dragons descended from, like amphibians, reptiles, dinosaurs, therapsides and different kind of birds. Most authors choose to describe dragons by following criteria: At least six limbs (with at least one pair having a different function), the ability to fly or hover, scales or feathers. There are exceptions to this rule, so most people simply go by 'Big scaley and scary, must be a dragon.' Which means, this is not the Dragon Type, but rather the Dragon Classification. Or else I'd have to add Aloan Execgutor.

So, how are Necrozma related to Necrozma Dusk Mane and Necrozma Dawn Wing?

Necrozma Dusk Mane/Dawn Mane used to be normal Solgaleo/Lunala, until they got infected by Necrozma's bite. And then they started to transform slowly over centuries into Necrozma, using those stages as intermediate. The golden Necrozma is the adult stage

How do each zygarde form separate from each other and how are there related do they change in the environment or the They change by age
And does a single Necrozma become it original form is it born that way or an infection gone wrong with sogaleo or lunala

Zygarde is an interesting case, as it is a collection of Zygarde Cells crowding around a Zygarde Core, following its commands as a hive. Nobody knows why the cells specialize into taking the shape of a Dog/Snake/Dragon though.

Ultra Necrozma is the fully grown version of normal Necrozma.

How does Necrozma absorb Solgaleo/Lunala? And why does Poipole's brain move all the way to the abdomen when it evolves?

:icondragonlordrynn:
DragonlordRynn Featured By Owner Mar 9, 2018
Necrozma reproduces by infecting Solgaleo/Lunala through a bite or blood. The infected will then, over a very long period of time, grow into another Necrozma, which eventually grows into the golden dragon shape.
And Poipole's brain remains the same size. It just has a crest containing poisonous glands as long it is younger to protect itself. As it grows into Naganadel, this crest vanishes and its tail thickens as it develops a larger poison gland and fat for hard times.

How does the biting work? And can it infect other pokemon?

Also, what are shiny Poipole called?

:icondragonlordrynn:
DragonlordRynn Featured By Owner Mar 11, 2018
Well, it works like rabies, actually. But most other pokémon don't survive being infected because a) the transformation process takes literal ages and most Pokémon simply don't live that long; and b) it is a very aggressive form of rabies. Only legendary Pokémon have a chance actually surviving.

Shiny Poipole.

So it can work on other legendaries like Palkia?

:icondragonlordrynn:

Probably. Just that most of those legendaries do not live in the same area as Necrozma does.

Neat :) Good job on the realistic reconstructions of these dragons.

Being a fan of Necrozma, I obviously praise you for how cool-looking it is, but aside from that, Dusk Mane's skull head also looks awesome.

I love your artwork, but I've noticed a few comments confusing Dragon class with Dragon type. Do you think you should add a note to address this?

I thought I did? Kind of? "Dragons do not belong to only one family of Pokemon. Most authors choose to describe dragons by following criteria: At least six limbs (with at least one pair having a different function), the ability to fly or hover, scales or feathers. Added this to make it clear:
"Which means, this is not the Dragon

Ah, but that's the beatuy of dragons- dragons aren't a species in itself- it's a classification. The usual classification is 'Vertebrae, with at least six limbs with two of them having a different function than the other four; and extreme amount of power'. Like Lugia, or Hoopa, there are exceptions to that case, so most people go by 'Big and scary and able to fly, must be a dragon'

Since they go with 'big and scaly' and wyverns in modern media are called dragons (Smaug and Alduin, for example), they are dragons to me. Just not real dragons, you know?

But they are both reptilian. However, like many fish, Poipole does a really harsh growth spurt as it grows- its crest vanishes, its arms turn into wings and its tail thickens.
