Fixed Fusion Monsters: Three-Headed Crawling Rex

Description

Here’s the fourth picture of the second wave of the Fixing Fusion Monsters series, which also happens to be the fourteenth one overall. This is the brand new and much more improved Fusion of Two-Headed King Rex and Crawling Dragon #2. In the Yu-Gi-Oh! manga, anime, and card game, there is a Fusion Monster known as Brachio-Raidus. Even though Brachio-Raidus was technically a dinosaur just like the two monsters used to make it, this gigantic long-neck fell very short of feeling like a true Fusion Monster. Not only did it barely resemble its two fusees in terms of physical design, but it was also a herbivore instead of a carnivore like Two-Headed King Rex and Crawling Dragon #2. Because of that, I had to go all the way back to page one and think of a much more fitting combination between these two gigantic, scaly meat-eaters.

While there have been countless different dinosaurs in the distant past, all of these reptilian beasts were generally divided into two categories based on their eating habits: carnivores, which fed on other dinosaurs, and herbivores, which ate plants and vegetation. This is one of the main reasons why Brachio-Raidus truly dropped the ball—at least in terms of being a Fusion Monster—since it is a light-blue-skinned brachiosaurus, a long-necked herbivore, which completely clashes with the fact that the purple two-headed T-Rex and the black-skinned dinosaur with a leech-like mouth filled with teeth are both carnivores. On top of that, Two-Headed King Rex and Crawling Dragon #2 are both Earth Attribute monsters, whereas the massive long-neck is a Water Attribute one. Because of this, I knew that I had to focus not only on the carnivorous nature of the two fusees, but also on the Earth Attribute theme that was completely abandoned in their original Fusion.

As a matter of fact, this happens to be the first fixed Fusion Monster where I experienced both simplicity and difficulty. Similar to how I created Hinotama Egg and Blackcave Lava Dragon, I had no trouble coming up with the general design, since this dinosaur clearly needed to be a massive carnivore with big claws and razor-sharp teeth. The real challenge came with deciding the number of heads and the color scheme. When it came to the heads, I genuinely struggled, as I couldn’t decide whether this dinosaur should have one, two, or even three heads. However, after thinking it over and considering how rare multi-headed Dinosaur-Type monsters are, I ultimately decided that a three-headed dinosaur was the best option. The other major struggle was choosing the colors, since I didn’t want it to feel like a simple recolor of either Two-Headed King Rex or Crawling Dragon #2. To solve this, I went with an entirely new color palette to make the monster feel more original. And thus, Three-Headed Crawling Rex was born.

Other than being a carnivore like its two fusees instead of a herbivore, this new dinosaur is a fully faithful combination of both monsters while still being something entirely original. Rather than having just one or two heads—which I nearly went with—this massive, ferocious, and downright deadly dinosaur possesses three heads, each one equally powerful and armed with brutal, jagged teeth. Its body is also covered in numerous thick and razor-sharp spikes that run from its neck down to its tail, matching the lethality of its claws. As mentioned earlier, I wanted this dinosaur to have its own unique color scheme rather than borrowing the colors of its components. As a result, its hard, scaly skin and striped belly were painted dark green and orange respectively, referencing the many toy dinosaurs I owned as a child, as well as the color schemes commonly seen in dinosaur books and movies.

The physical traits of Three-Headed Crawling Rex include the clawed hands, enlarged and redesigned wings, main body, tail, the two outer heads, three horns on each of those heads, and the two long necks inherited from Two-Headed King Rex. From Crawling Dragon #2, it takes the striped belly, arms, legs, feet, spikes, back structure, the central head, the long neck connected to it, and the distinctive eye shape, which was applied to all three heads. In addition, I gave the middle head the same three-horn arrangement as the other two to maintain visual consistency. The horns, claws, and spikes were painted light blue to emphasize their extreme sharpness, inspired by the glowing blue blades often seen in cartoons and anime. Finally, all six eyes were colored dark purple, as very few Dinosaur-Type monsters use that eye color. This choice was made to give the creature a more intimidating presence and to symbolize the terrifying fate awaiting any prey or enemy unlucky enough to stare into the faces of this three-headed beast.

The Three-Headed Crawling Rex is one of the most powerful and terrifying predators to ever walk the dinosaur world, and it has more than earned that reputation. Born from the fusion of Two-Headed King Rex and Crawling Dragon #2, this colossal beast perfectly combines the overwhelming brute force of one with the relentless savagery of the other. Despite its titanic size, this monster is far faster than it appears, capable of charging across the land at astonishing speeds and taking to the skies with explosive force, moving through the air like a living missile. This three-headed king of beasts is not only a force of raw destruction, but also a highly intelligent predator. With all six of its razor-sharp eyes constantly scanning its surroundings, it carefully observes prey, enemies, and intruders before striking without mercy. The right and left heads, inherited from Two-Headed King Rex, often coordinate their attacks together, overwhelming opponents with synchronized bites and crushing force. Meanwhile, the massive central head—derived from Crawling Dragon #2—possesses teeth so enormous and durable that they can pulverize nearly anything into dust with a single, devastating bite. In addition to its monstrous jaws, the Three-Headed Crawling Rex is armed with gleaming horns and claws of extreme sharpness, capable of cleaving through trees, stone, and even heavily armored foes with ease. Its powerful tail is equally dangerous, as a single slam against the ground can cause violent tremors, creating destructive earthquakes that destabilize entire battlefields. Few creatures can withstand both its physical might and its sheer presence. As long as the this three headed beast stands, the land itself trembles, and any creature foolish enough to challenge it faces a brutal and inevitable demise. The Three-Headed Crawling Rex has every single one of the stats from Brachio-Raidus but with a few small changes.
