The Phoenix Councilor

Here’s the fifth of the eight masked members of the Supreme Council of Azarath or the Celestial Guardians as they call themselves. This is the Phoenix Councilor.

As I’ve mentioned in my picture of all the eight masked councilors, the first five of them got their cloak colors and mask shapes after the main heroes from the Japanese Tokusatsu series Dengeki Sentai Changeman. In the case of the Phoenix Councilor, she got her pink cloak and phoenix shaped mask inspired by Mai Tsubasa AKA Change Phoenix.

In addition to her pink hooded cloak, dark gold armor and phoenix shaped mask with jade eyes, the Phoenix Councilor is elegant, charismatic and is always with a hopeful tone. In public, she's seen as a kind, inspiring, maternal and visionary sorceress who talks about "rising from the ashes" and "healing and forgiveness" but in truth she's a manipulative, vain and quite emotionally domineering old woman. She uses false empathy to control others by simply feigning pity, believes suffering is necessary to purify even if she causes it and dreams of "recreating" Azarath in her own way by destroying what doesn't fit according to her vision.

She represents the phoenix, a fiery bird that represents the promise of rebirth that comes through destruction and it works given that she's determined to kill numerous innocent people and destroy various villages and cities in which she believes that are "beyond salvation and redemption". Since she and all of her fellow masked councilors are old people, the Phoenix Councilor also has wisdom and power that are said to be absolute and she has the same abilities as the beast her mask was modeled after when it comes to her powerful and highly dangerous magic. Because of her terrifying reputation, she’s been known by many as “The False Redeemer”.
