Description
Now it’s the turn of a whole new and improved version of the Fusion between Witch of the Black Forest and Lady of Faith. In the Yu-Gi-Oh! manga, anime, and card game, there is a Fusion monster called Musician King. Sadly, like many of the Fusion monsters I’ve been fixing in this series so far, this one was a huge disappointment, mainly because it was a man instead of being a woman like the two monsters used to create it. On top of that, it completely dropped both the design aspects and overall themes of Witch of the Black Forest and Lady of Faith.
Just like three of the Fusion Monsters for which I’ve done complete design overhauls instead of keeping their original concepts and merely applying major tweaks like I did with the 2.0 versions, there was really no way I could have fixed Musician King due to how fundamentally flawed he is as a Fusion monster. Originally, I had a lot of difficulty thinking of a proper combination for Witch of the Black Forest and Lady of Faith, as I only knew that the result had to be a woman like them. In the end, however, I decided to keep the overall music theme used in the flawed Fusion, but I had to look back into the past, since there is indeed a historical link between music, witchcraft, and faith.
In ancient times, people believed that music was heavily associated with both witchcraft and faith. During the Middle Ages, several legends depicted witches and wizards using music to brainwash people into doing their bidding, bring life to dying flowers and other plants, rebuild destroyed buildings and places, and even summon spirits from the other world. Likewise, in the early days of the church, nuns were said to sing sacred songs whenever someone died so that the music would guide the deceased into paradise or toward the path of redemption. Because of these ancient connections to music, as well as the physical elements present in the two female monsters used to create Musician King, the concept of Melody Queen was born.
Instead of being a male modern rocker holding an electric guitar, this new Fusion of Witch of the Black Forest and Lady of Faith is now a woman like them, with many of their attributes incorporated into her design—some faithfully adapted and others reinterpreted in new ways, along with the addition of a few original elements. I chose to make this Fusion a queen, since a ruler is said to possess far more power than a witch and a nun combined. Additionally, in ancient European legends—such as Arthurian and Celtic tales—many queens with beautiful voices and exceptional musical skills were believed to wield immense magical power, capable of both creation and destruction.
In addition to being female like her two fusees, Melody Queen features many physical traits and thematic elements from both monsters, blended together while still remaining unique and original. She retains the collar with the yellow eye, the dress, belt, and sleeves from Witch of the Black Forest, while the wings—originally placed on the head as ears—were moved to her back to give her the ability to fly. She also incorporates the eyes, small tunic details, shoulder pads, hair, and skin tone of Lady of Faith. The dress color inspired the hair, and the crown was redesigned to give her a more regal appearance. The dress itself was painted crimson to avoid simply copying either fusee’s outfit. Finally, she wields an ancient red guitar decorated with a sun at its center and clouds surrounding it, while the star on her crown now houses a glowing green magical eye.
The Melody Queen is a fair, wise, and benevolent ruler whose power lies at the crossroads of magic, music, and faith. Through the yellow and green gems embedded within her collar and crown—both shaped like watchful eyes—she possesses the rare ability to peer into the distant past as well as the far future. These mystical eyes grant her immense knowledge, allowing her to rule with foresight, patience, and careful judgment. Her magical abilities are deeply intertwined with music, a trait inherited from both of her fusees, Witch of the Black Forest and Lady of Faith. The more she sings and plays her instrument, the stronger her magic becomes, amplifying the effectiveness and potency of her spells. Her voice alone can resonate with divine energy, inspiring allies, soothing wounded souls, or overwhelming enemies with awe and fear. Combined with her unmatched skill on the guitar, her performances make her appear almost god-like to those who witness them. The Melody Queen wields a sacred, ancient guitar imbued with divine magic. This instrument allows her to generate powerful defensive barriers, unleash devastating energy attacks, and manipulate magical forces through sound. Thanks to the wings inherited from Witch of the Black Forest, now positioned upon her back, she can soar effortlessly through the skies with astonishing speed, making her both a graceful and terrifying presence in battle. As a Fusion born from the dark mysticism of Witch of the Black Forest and the holy devotion of Lady of Faith, the Melody Queen embodies perfect balance between shadow and light. She is neither cruel nor naive, using her immense power only when necessary and always in service of harmony. Whether her music brings creation or destruction depends entirely on those who stand before her. The Melody Queen has all the stats of the Musician King.
