Description
The Fixing Duel Monsters series is back on track as I’m bringing you the first picture of the second wave of this series, which is also the eleventh entry overall. This time, it’s the updated Fusion of Giga-Tech Wolf and Cannon Soldier, called Labyrinth Tank 2.0. I named this Fusion Monster Labyrinth Tank 2.0 because, in the Yu-Gi-Oh! manga, anime, and card game, there is an actual Fusion monster called Labyrinth Tank. Unfortunately, that huge machine was a major disappointment—at least when it comes to being a Fusion monster—given that it completely lacked many, if not all, of the physical elements seen in Giga-Tech Wolf and Cannon Soldier. This is exactly why this heavy tank needed a major redesign, just like all the Fusion monsters I’ve improved or redesigned from scratch.
Originally, I was going to create a brand-new Fusion for Giga-Tech Wolf and Cannon Soldier in the form of a robotic werewolf. However, thanks to all the votes I received from friends, fans, and watchers on a recent poll, the 2.0 version of Labyrinth Tank ended up winning. Since this was a 2.0 version of the Fusion monster, I had to make sure that it felt completely faithful to both Giga-Tech Wolf and Cannon Soldier, as well as resembling them far more than the original did, since that version was merely a huge blue mechanical tank covered in drills. At first, it was extremely difficult to merge a robotic wolf and a robot with a cannon for a head into an armored tank, but fortunately, after doing some much-needed research, I found the perfect way to blend these two monsters into a brand-new tank while keeping their physical attributes and overall themes that were previously missing.
During World War II, the Germans—more specifically, the Nazis—created deadly war machines known as wolf tanks. These heavy tanks were used to cause massive bloodshed and senseless destruction, as they not only turned buildings into rubble with their explosive shells but also took the lives of countless innocent people. Another major inspiration for the updated design of this Fusion monster was the fact that, in many legends, wild dogs were known to be guardians of dangerous places, such as the three-headed Cerberus from Greek mythology and the feral Garm from Norse mythology. These concepts, alongside the numerous giant robots shaped after wild animals seen throughout the Gundam franchise, gave rise to the new version of this heavy armored tank, which ended up being far more faithful to both Giga-Tech Wolf and Cannon Soldier.
This new Labyrinth Tank, also known as Labyrinth Tank 2.0, is now a true physical combination of the two monsters used to create it, in a manner similar to the giant robots from the Gundam series mentioned earlier, as well as the various Megazords from Power Rangers. Since both monsters used for this updated Fusion are machines, many of their original parts needed to be incorporated into the new physical design. Design-wise, the 2.0 version now features a large tank cannon instead of drills. The clawed wolf paws have been scattered throughout the body: two of them are placed on top, where they have been converted into deadly missiles that serve as additional ammunition alongside the large explosive shells fired from the cannon, while the remaining two are positioned at the front near the treads. The hatch now has a large robotic wolf head positioned in the middle, giving this massive moving weapon a much more intimidating and feral appearance.
Aside from the drills being replaced with a tank cannon, the four wolf paws being distributed across different parts of the tank, and the robotic wolf head being placed at the center of the hatch, this destructive and beastly machine now also features the scanning computer originally seen on Cannon Soldier’s chest, which has been relocated to the top of the tank so it can scan surrounding areas for any unwanted trespassers. Additionally, the tail from Giga-Tech Wolf has been enlarged and now replaces the large structure located at the back of the original Labyrinth Tank, making this version far more wolf-like. The sinister red eyes, blue claws, gray wolf head and paws, blue spheres with gray bolts, and large black nose retain the same color scheme as Giga-Tech Wolf, while the leaf-green tank cannon and treads, yellow top and bottom hatches, purple base and armored skirt, and top-mounted computer share the same colors as Cannon Soldier. Lastly, the two blue wings originally seen on the robotic wolf have been slightly reworked into large, angular eyebrows positioned above the glowing red eyes.
Labyrinth Tank 2.0 is a colossal, heavily armored fusion machine created from the combined power of Giga-Tech Wolf and Cannon Soldier. Designed as the ultimate guardian, this monstrous war machine was built to protect ancient labyrinths rumored to conceal forbidden knowledge, lost relics, and unspeakable secrets. Once assigned to a labyrinth, Labyrinth Tank endlessly patrols its walls and corridors, its mechanical instincts never resting as it waits for intruders foolish enough to trespass. Despite its immense size and weight, Labyrinth Tank 2.0 possesses surprising speed and agility inherited from Giga-Tech Wolf. When its advanced tracking system—adapted from Cannon Soldier’s scanning computer—detects movement, the tank immediately locks onto its targets and charges forward without hesitation. From a distance, it bombards enemies with a relentless barrage of missiles and explosive shells fired from its massive cannon, reducing entire groups to rubble in mere seconds. Should any survivors remain, the beast closes in and attacks with brutal efficiency, tearing them apart with its reinforced claws and crushing jaws like a feral mechanical predator. The wolf-like nature of Giga-Tech Wolf grants Labyrinth Tank an unnatural loyalty. Once bound to a master, it exists solely to obey their command, defending the labyrinth with absolute devotion and merciless force. No matter how many enemies fall before it, the tank will never abandon its post, tirelessly exterminating anyone who dares to step foot into territory claimed by its controller. In the depths of forgotten labyrinths, the thunderous footsteps of Labyrinth Tank 2.0 serve as a grim warning: once it has detected you, escape is no longer an option. The new Labyrinth Tank has all the stats of the original.
