Fixed Fusion Monsters: Amphibious Bugroth 2.0

Description

Due to how popular, successful, and beloved the first and second waves of the Fixing Fusion Monsters series I’ve been working so hard on this year have become, I’ve decided to work on a third wave featuring brand-new, reimagined, and alternate takes on already existing Fusion monsters. Not only is this the first picture of this third wave, but it is also the twenty-fifth one of the entire series.

This time, it’s the updated Fusion of Ground Attacker Bugroth and Sentinel of the Sea, known as Amphibious Bugroth 2.0. I named this Fusion monster Amphibious Bugroth 2.0 because, in the Yu-Gi-Oh! manga, anime, and card game, there is an actual Fusion monster called Amphibious Bugroth. Sadly, that gigantic war machine was a major letdown—at least in terms of being a Fusion monster—given that it dropped several, if not all, of the physical elements and attributes that originated from both Ground Attacker Bugroth and Sentinel of the Sea. Thus, this heavy and deadly machine really needed a huge overhaul in its design, just like how I worked on the previous Fusion monsters that were either turned into 2.0 versions of themselves by adding the missing themes from their two or three fusees or completely redesigned into brand-new creatures.

The original Amphibious Bugroth was simply a recolored version of Ground Attacker Bugroth, given that the white missiles became light purple, the thick blue metallic skin turned red, and the big magenta windshield was repainted light blue. Other than being a recolor of one of its two fusees, the original version of this Fusion monster completely lacked every single aspect of Sentinel of the Sea. According to its own description from the card game, Ground Attacker Bugroth was originally a surface battle robot that was once used for sea warfare, and since the word amphibious refers to living creatures capable of surviving both in water and on land, I knew that this updated Fusion monster had to be completely faithful to both its fusees, as well as its original version, while also being quite original at the same time. Originally, I thought that combining a huge, heavy, and destructive land robot with a green-skinned, one-eyed merman was going to be extremely difficult, but it ended up being one of the easiest tweaked and updated Fusion monsters I’ve ever worked on.

Just like Ground Attacker Bugroth, this revamped Fusion monster was heavily inspired by several real-life vehicles, such as the Unterseeboot, or U-Boat—a term used to designate German Navy submarines, especially those of the First and Second World Wars—whose main purpose was to attack enemy trade routes. These inspired the thick fin on the back, the torso, and the two large torpedoes. I was also inspired by the DPV (Diver Propulsion Vehicle), a type of aquatic device used by divers, which influenced the shape of the large torso, the mechanical thighs, the front sphere where the small robotic arms are located, and the right and left sides of the oval-shaped body. Additionally, various modern diving suits helped inspire the design of the big robotic eye seen in the middle of the gigantic head. I was also heavily inspired by the All Terrain Armored Transport (AT-AT) walkers from the Star Wars films, which influenced the overall body structure of this formidable robot, while the thick metallic discs in the hands were turned into sharp-looking claws.

Given that Sentinel of the Sea happens to be one of the two fusees of this mechanical monster, I knew that this one-eyed merman had to be fully included in the updated design instead of merely contributing the Water attribute. Similar to how I previously worked on Labyrinth Tank 2.0, this new Amphibious Bugroth—also known as Amphibious Bugroth 2.0—is the perfect physical combination of beast and machine, taking strong inspiration from the many animal-shaped robots found in the Gundam franchise, as well as the Megazords from Power Rangers. The purple fish tail of the green-skinned, one-eyed merman was turned into a long, thick metallic tail inspired by eels, while the humanoid-like head was redesigned into a more animalistic one modeled after piranhas, which explains the gigantic razor-sharp teeth. The small fins were merged into a single, larger fin made entirely of metal. By combining the magenta windshield from Ground Attacker Bugroth with the single orange eye of Sentinel of the Sea, I ended up with a large mechanical eye. All these concepts combined gave birth to a new version of this Fusion monster that is far more faithful to both its fusees while still being original.

Other than the real-life sea vehicles, aquatic animals, and fictional robots previously mentioned, this powerful war machine—capable of operating both on land and at sea—now combines every single physical attribute and color from the two monsters used to create it. The physical parts this updated Fusion monster possesses are the body, torso, small arms, large legs, rear fin, and torpedoes from Ground Attacker Bugroth, while the tail, head, and large eye come from Sentinel of the Sea. The colors it shares with Ground Attacker Bugroth include cyan on the arms and legs, blue on the thighs, the front sphere housing the arms, and the large fin, as well as magenta in the big robotic eye. Meanwhile, the colors inherited from Sentinel of the Sea include dark gray on the large oval-shaped body, violet on the tail, green on the hands, feet, and head, light orange on the missiles—which originated from the merman’s single eye—dark gold on the front edges of the two torpedoes, which were inspired by the dagger wielded by the merman, and green used once again in the two stripes on the back of the torpedoes.

Amphibious Bugroth 2.0 is a massive, thick, and downright lethal war machine with a nearly impenetrable metallic hide, designed to patrol both land and sea. Its sole purpose is to defend the territories controlled by its allies and superiors while relentlessly invading enemy domains, ensuring they are completely conquered once all opposition has been wiped out. Built as the ultimate amphibious assault unit, this colossal robot leaves devastation in its wake wherever it is deployed. Thanks to its highly advanced tracking system and the multiple vision modes housed within its enormous mechanical eye, this formidable machine is capable of detecting enemies on land, at sea, and even in the air. Once targets are located, Amphibious Bugroth obliterates them with its heavy torpedoes, powerful enough to reduce almost anything to rubble in mere seconds. When it closes in on its foes, this sea-monster-shaped war robot crushes them beneath its massive feet, whose sheer weight is said to generate violent tremors across both land and ocean floors. Those who survive its advance are smashed by its thick, mechanical tail or torn apart by its razor-sharp teeth, capable of breaking through some of the hardest known materials. Created using the same advanced technology as Labyrinth Tank 2.0, Amphibious Bugroth shares a similar design philosophy that fuses brutal military hardware with the anatomy of savage creatures. This explains their fearsome appearances, which blur the line between machine and beast, turning them into living weapons of war. As a Fusion born from Ground Attacker Bugroth and Sentinel of the Sea, Amphibious Bugroth 2.0 perfectly embodies both of its fusees. From Ground Attacker Bugroth, it inherits its heavy armor, overwhelming firepower, and role as a frontline combat unit, while Sentinel of the Sea grants it its aquatic nature, monstrous traits, and dominance over oceanic environments. Together, these two monsters gave rise to a terrifying hybrid of sea beast and machine capable of absolute supremacy across land and sea alike. The new Amphibious Bugroth also has all the stats of the original.
