Fixed Fusion Monsters: Fusionist 2.0

As the title implies, this is the first entry in my new series of handmade drawings known as Fixing Fusion Monsters, in which I either redesign or make major adjustments to Fusion Monsters from the Yu-Gi-Oh! franchise that were quite weird, disappointing, or even wasted in terms of potential.

Don’t get me wrong — some of these Fusion Monsters that appeared in the manga, anime, and card game are great as actual monsters. However, when it comes to them being fusions, they truly fall short of the mark, as they either do not resemble their fusees or lack the combined themes of the two or three monsters used to create them.

This is the first “fixed-up” Fusion Monster designed by me: the fusion of Petit Angel and Mystical Sheep #2. The original fusion of these two monsters resulted in a creature known as Fusionist, which is a purple cat with wings. While it does have the wings of Petit Angel and is a furred animal like Mystical Sheep #2, it completely lacks the angelic and dream-like themes of the two monsters used to create it.

While I actually liked the idea of a furred, winged animal despite the flaws I mentioned above, I decided to give Fusionist a major revamp, and thus a new and more accurate fusion was born. In the end, the flying and furred animal themes of the original Fusionist were kept, but the cat had to go, as it had nothing to do with the themes of the two fusees.

This new Fusionist, also known as Fusionist 2.0, is an angelic-looking sheep that has the wings, halo, eyes, and mouth of Petit Angel, along with the body, fur, horns, head, nose, and tail of Mystical Sheep #2. Because of this, it isn’t a complete redesign — I was able to preserve the two main principles seen in the original Fusionist, but in the process I also added more elements from both fusees, along with a couple of new details.

In addition to the familiar elements of the two monsters, I also added salmon-colored spiked shoulder pads, which are a clear reference to the spikes seen on each side of Petit Angel, as well as a salmon-colored sash. This sash not only references the angelic monster but also serves to indicate that Fusionist 2.0 is a divine creature that serves and obeys God.

Born from the fusion of Petit Angel and Mystical Sheep #2, this new Fusionist is a gentle yet mysterious divine guardian, pure of heart and bound to the realm of dreams. It watches over sleeping souls, weaving sweet dreams for the innocent while shielding them from nightmares and malevolent forces Possessing holy power inherited from Petit Angel and the dream-inducing nature of Mystical Sheep #2, Fusionist 2.0 is able to create powerful illusions shaped by the deepest desires and wishes of those who behold it. Those who fall under its influence find themselves lost within visions of comfort and longing, unaware of the passage of time. When threatened, this divine sheep releases a soothing, enchanted mist that lulls its enemies into a deep sleep, trapping them within dreamlike illusions reflected by their own hearts. Though it rarely acts with hostility, those who attempt to harm the innocent under its protection may never awaken from the dreams it creates. The stats of this new Fusionist are the same as the original.
