The Jedi Knights - no. 2: Anakin Skywalker

"You were the Chosen One. It was said that you would destroy the Sith, not join them. Bring balance to the Force, not leave it in darkness." - Obi-Wan Kenobi

I think in a way, the Force was guiding Anakin Skywalker and Darth Vader as the Chosen One. As I'm sure alot of people know, Anakin was always skeptical about the Prophecy of the Chosen One. But I guess after becoming Darth Vader, the Force gave Anakin more of a reality check during his defeat on Mustafar. He may have lost the duel, but he was still very much alive.

And he did restore balance in the end, didn't he? By killing the Emperor!

He did it by empowering and destroying both the Jedi and the Sith (which meant himself too). I feel like the Force had its own agenda for how Anakin/Vader would bring balance to the Force, not in the way that the Jedi Prophecy had told.

Also, I would like to quote Ben Kenobi and Luke Skywalker from Episode IV:

Ben: "Remember a Jedi can feel the Force flowing through him."

Luke: "You mean it controls your actions?"

Ben: "Partially. But it also obeys your commands."

I feel like Anakin didn't simply just choose the Dark Side. It chose HIM. The Dark Side of the Force is just as much a part of the Force as the Light Side is. You can't expect the Chosen One to bring balance to anything if he's only on once side of the Force. Balance means having both sides having equal amounts.

Also, even the Sith had their own Prophecy about a Sith that would raise the Sith to power and destroy them bringing forth a new generation of Sith. I don't think the Force truly followed whatever man-made Prophecy the Jedi nor Sith had, at least not in the ways that the Jedi and Sith had thought. The Force had its own plan for how Anakin Skywalker would bring balance, not what the Jedi Prophecy nor Sith Prophecy had in mind.

That's a cool way of seeing it, and maybe that the galaxy sort of needs to be without both jedi and sith to be balanced. Reminds me of Kreia's quote in KOTOR2, mentioned here:…

Yea I remember that quote. She was obviously talking about Anakin/Vader.

And ultimately when Anakin/Vader did bring balance, he left only one thing behind to restart the Force again: his son Luke.
