Shizame by Dragimal Shizame by Dragimal
the first half of a loooong-waiting request for :iconchikara-redwing: of their character, Shizame

sorry this took so long, Chikara! hopefully, my rendition of Shizame is up to snuff, despite the wait! if there's anything I got wrong or that u'd like me to change, feel free to let me know!

since u mentioned that Shizame would have been a hexapod, if not for mutations, I thought it would be interesting to have some unformed bits of the arms still present even if the full arm isn't there, so I added in some teeny-tiny deformed shoulderblades. also, I wasn't quite sure exactly where the ridges on the ribcage were based, and at first I was gonna do 2 sets (the front ends almost converging at the front of the chest, then gradually flaring apart as they traveled down the chest), but thought it might be better to keep them bone-based ridges rather than flesh, so instead only drew one ridge following the keel. depending on how this guy sits/lays down, either setup may work, honestly, esp if they're made of flexible cartilage (the current single ridge would prolly work better if he prefers to lay on his side, while the double-ridge may work better if he tends to rest on his belly).

again, hope u like it, and I plan to (hopefully) work on the second half of ur request tomorrow, so that should be comin soon!

He is so fabulous. ;-;  I love the way you did the details on the feet  and the left over shoulder blades was a cool idea.  I have no idea what those things on his chest are either.  I drew him first when I was in high school and didn't know what anatomy was.   I've only kept them, because I think they look snazzy, lol.  I love his expression though.  He looks so confused to have wings lol.  This is so lovely.  It was totally worth the wait. ;-;  (Especially since I saw this just before I had to do my pre-qual exam this morning.  Perfect timing. :D)

ahhh I'm so glad u like him!
the feet were the most fun tbh (I love drawing talons and puffy paw pads, u have no idea). I'm glad u like the shoulderblade idea too-- I thought it might make him stick out more as a mutated hexapod dragon, rather than a rare quad dragon~
haha, I hear ya, my dragons had some odd anatomical additions way back when too.
oh, his face was fun to draw too. at first, I wasn't quite sure what to make of the 3 horns on his face, and whether to but them on the back of the jaw or on the zygomatic ridge. I eventually decided to just stretch the zyg ridge down/out over the jaw and have the horns come off that (it doesn't look so stretched in the pic cus' his head's tilted back). gives him something along the lines of smallish, Triceratops-esque frills on the sides of his face, aha.
I'm so glad I did a good job on him, ahh I was worried I'd mess him up (oh man, that is perfect timing! I'm happy my art could give ya a bit of a boost!)
