Any one have any advice for drawing background art/scenery/landscapes? I'm getting a little tired of my characters floating in a void.

Hmmm, generally what i do when presenting my characters is to choose a color for the background and add some discrete details, after all the main focus is to present the character itself, that is my intention.

But, if you'd like to put your characters into an scenery or theme background, just imagine a place in where it would be by logic, liking, i dunno, a swamp for a water type, or a volcano for a fire type, something like i did with Pyreliental, i put it on a cave by two reasons, the lava theme and also for its light emission to be notorious, i used the ambient as an extension of the character itself plus i added some extra light details to finish the composition; that's my advice.

It's fine, the void is a pretty cozy place.
