So, it's almost here!

G-Fest is in less than a week, and I've been busting my butt trying to finish things before that awesome weekend gets here.  Granted there have been a few bumps along the way...

First things first, there was some trouble with my plane tickets that hit back in May.  Apparently Spirit, the airline I had booked the tickets with had cancelled my tickets.  Their corporate had made the decision to no longer serve flights from Kansas City to Chicago or back.  So I was in a bit of a panic that night as I attempted to get something arranged.  First guy I talked to wanted to give me credit on a Spirit airline for the amount, and of course that wasn't gong to fly.  So I called back in later, got a different one, and managed to get my ticket money refunded so i could get ANOTHER set of tickets at about the same price (little more expensive) JUST so my friend and I can make this trip.

Add onto that, the fact I found out lhis last year someone was charging stuff in my name up in New York on my card, when my card was still in my pocket.  Luckily the bank caught this, informed me, and no money was actually withdrawn.  But dear geek, two charges of nearly 500 at a Target in Brooklyn?  I guarantee that wasn't me because I was in at my branch that morning.

So yeah, that's been a trip.  Don't worry though we got other tickets and I got a new card (other one was reported stolen).

So lets get onto the nitty gritty of the week!

SoDak Con was AMAZING.  So many cool people there, new artists, and a bit of a larger venue.  Granted we had nearly 30  artists there, not everyone did amazing, but DreamGear Studios wasn't there, (they were at Smallville).  Though we did have a tumbler competition come through at the same time, it felt like the con itself had gotten smaller.  The Tumbler Nationals helped though, did make a lot of sales on Friday and Sat.  So much so that I passed last years sales by a good chunk!  I did have to up my prices, however.  But that's the nature of the beast, especially with costs rising.  It sucks, but people are still buying, so I can't complain.

So it's entitled "Get your Kaiju On" for a few reasons.  As many of my followers and new watchers have noticed, I've been finishing up a LOT of kaiju art.  And why not?  G-Fest is right around the corner, ina ll of it's city smashing glory!  Most of the CKC Forum is going to be there, saddly :iconwintergaia: won't be due to personal reasons.  :iconrosenkruex: will be crashing with me, and bringing some soda as a gift for the Art God.  My Roomate will be going again, and we're pretty excited about the whole trip.  Pretty excited to see :iconkaijusamurai:, again, crash his dinner like last time. >;D.  Bob Eggleton will be there, but I still can't find my Darkhorse Godzilla #16 that he did the line art for and have him sign it.  Freaking A I need to clean.  There are so many people there I get to hang with again.  Graves and his book "Night of the Fire Beast" of which you saw my submission for the back of the book earlier this week, and the book will be for sale at G-Fest!  Man I'm so excited!  Its everything I enjoy in a con:  Good people, awesome art, MASSIVE dealers room, and of course Kaiju Goodness.  Lets also nto forget it's Gamera's 50th Anniversary, and I will have copies of my Gamera Tribute there:

Even though Winter won't be there (Wionter is NOT coming, HA!), I do have a few things we've worked on.  You probably noticed the last few pieces I've done that don't quite look like my coloring style.  That's because they are his, and part of a collaboration project we are working on.

Atheos:  Monster War is the name of the project and at this monent we have several kaiju designed but only a few finsihed.  The poster children are, of course Persastro Atheos - Persastro, The Mountian's Rage Cover by DR-Studios and of course Zatyolei Atheos - Zatyloei, The Ancient King Cover by DR-Studios.
:iconWinterGaia" is also working on another project with the two pieces so I'm excited to see what he comes up with.  We have two more in the works, that we will do in this style of I draw the art, and he colors it.  You can't deny the combination is downright awesome:  :D!  And of course those are:

So yeah, much excitement!  ;D

Oh man G-Fets is almost here and I have like.. two prints to finish.  One is a Create-a-Kaiju for Anime Fest Wichita, of which saddly I won't be there because G-fest kinda takes priority in my scale of awesome (Don't worry AFW, you're still a blast.. but... GODZILLA!)  However Ichico Comics will be there selling the Kaiju for AFW, and as always going to have copies for sale on my Etsy store when I return form G Fest and money influx is a bit better.

I'm also starting to launch a Paetron:  www.patreon.com/DR?ty=h (and link above).  Still working on a good cross over as to what to offer you fine folks for supporting me with your monies, but that's gonna be a bit.  I'm also looking into a primary site I can link to all my others from, just to save the clutter on my DevArt Blog, or get a way to show some images as links instead of just.. ya know...bland hyperlinks.  Ya know.  Stuff to work on but not as important?  lol  May even work on my own Journal skin.  Have some ideas, but priorities, ya know...

Now, back to work and then organizing how i'm going to transport all my prints.  I may be able to get them on the plane cheaper this year with how I have planned.  Also going to take a bit fewer, but still have copies of things that did pretty well last year.  Though with all the requests for freaking SHADOW, I may need to switch over my SegaSonicSeries release plans.... hmm...  Maybe.. But I want to get Amy and Chaotix done first before I'll start tackling Next Gen.

As always I'm still practicing and getting used to Manga Studio (LOVE IT), but the coloring options are a biiiiit limited compared to Photoshop.  Pretty sure some of that can be alleviated when and if I get my brushes transfered over (cuz I have a thousand sets of brushes I use).

In other news, Onyx Publishing has finished their Kickstarter for BEAST:  The PRIMORDIAL yesturday and I hehehehe,. decided to plurge a bit on it.  So much that I got one of the few positions for helping from concept to completion of a future supplement of the game.  Don't know when they're going to be asking for that information, but when they do, it should be a blast.

Okay guys, that's enough from me.  I gotta go work on stuff and get ready for G-FEST!

See you all there!
