Battle of the Fates by Dr-Morph Battle of the Fates by Dr-Morph
wow...I was playing around with the scripts in Apophysis and I arrived at this...
As for the name...my method of naming fractal is usually reversed from what is expected...I ususally think of a name while looking through the random fractals for a good starting point and then I try to match a fractal image to it, mutating the fractal repetatively and, as is the case here, playing with the scripts.

How much larger do you render your flames than the finished size? Does that question make sense?

hmm...strange...will flam3 actually open?...

Umm.. does it open? lol I really don't know what it is even.. I got some .exe files.. titled flam3-animate, flam3-convert, -genome, and -render..

hmm...somehow I figured that'd be the case...is there a text file with the apophysis beta that might explain how to set it up...or mayhap with flam3?

hmm...I just stumbled across something that might help...

[link]

"1. Download Apo 2.02 and unzip it into "Program Files" (apophysis.org)
2. Download the latest Beta version and unzip it into the Apo directory in "Program Files" (made in step 1 above) - (Sourceforge)
3. Make a short cut to the latest version and put it on your desktop (optional)"

mayhap that's your problem...

hmm...sorta...you mean like...cropping and stuff...actually...I've always rendered the same size...although I've gone back and added borders...but the borders are just extra length added to the sides...what's inside the border is the original fractal...

Hmm interesting, I was under the impression you should render much larger than the end product, and shrink it down, you don't think that's true?

I've never heard anyone say that a fractal should be rendered larger then resized for the final product...but thinking about the process that the image will undergo when resized...I'd say it detracts from detail...since at 50%, 4 pixels (a 2x2 square) are squeezed into 1 pixel...which can have only one color...so the program has to decide if it should be one color or another or an average of the 4 (which I think is what anti-aliasing does)

although the reason behind it might be to remove the stray pixel clutter...although I try to take care of that when I'm making the fractal...

Hmm interesting points.. I think you've solved some problems for me.. I was always rendering larger than I wanted..

glad to be of help...and if you find that it makes the stray pixels stand out too much you could use a blur of some sort to de-emphasize them...

nice gallery btw...how much photoshopping do you do to your fractals?

Just some colour enhancements and cropping.. The borders too obviously lol.

hmm...so the resize is what is giving them the painted look?...

I'll have to try that out sometime and see if I can replicate it without resizing...

thanks...it's definately exciting to make something that people like...even moreso when it was an unexpected creation...which is part of the reason that I like fractals...the other part is that I have to do far less to make them than my other artwork...

you know what helped me was the tutorials on the apophysis website...the main part was the tutorial was that to find good stock fractals to mutate you should use a single color for the gradient by going to the gradient menu and clicking the word rotate then selecting 'blur' and setting it to 100...check the box in options that indicates the random batch should use the current gradient and create a new batch...then look through and click on the mutate button for each fractal, set the mutate level to .15 and look for stock fractals in which the majority of the mutations have features that you like...those that have a majority are good for mutating into cool looking fractals...also, for this one, I used the script "Mutation Batch" on a stock fractal that I liked and one of the fractals in the mutated batch was this one or was what I mutated this one from...can't quite remember...

oh and thanks for the :+fav:
