“Hey babe, want to see a magic trick?”
“You keep talking to me like you’re trying to pick me up from a bar.”
“Can’t help it, [Name],” Terushima drawled, “Whenever I’m with you it’s always like the first meeting all over again.”
“Sir, would you like some cheese with that? I recommend the parmesan. Or perhaps the mozzarella?”
“Yeah, yeah, it’s cheesy, whatever,” he laughs. “So, how about it, love? Care to give it a try?”
“Yuuji, we’ve been together for years now. I’m sure I’ve seen all your magic tricks at this point,” you tell him, though you remove yourself from the mess of paperwork in your desk and plop down the bed beside him with a resounding thud, “but I’ll humor you anyway.”
A mischievous glint surfaces in his eyes. “Pick a card.”
“Then place the card in your pocket,” he instructs, and you sink the card down your pocket without protest. “Now watch carefully.”
He shuffles the cards again with careful precision that showed infinite amount of practice and faded paper cuts on his fingers. After shuffling one last time, he picks a random card from the deck and flips it.
“Is this the card?” Terushima smirks, revealing a king of hearts card between his fingers.
Your hands immediately dive into your pocket. “What? But I put that card in my—”
Except something else cold and metallic tickles your fingertips.
A ring? Why would there be—
“So, will you be my queen of hearts?”
