Nooo, Ariel, don't touch the jellyfish! Where's Flounder where you need him?
I modified Ariel's look just a tad, mainly the seashells and the transition from her body to fishtail. And I still have major trouble with hands...

The Little Mermaid belongs to Hans Christian Andersen, and this take on the story belongs to Disney.

WOW! Thank you for such amazing comments!!!
LOL you're correct about how much art featuring her and Rapunzel appears to hype them both up on espresso and pixie sticks. It's nice to explore the less bubbly sides of both of them. (Actually, Ariel wasn't all that bubbly to begin with as she spent a great deal of the film either wistful or downcast. She certainly fit the "moody teenager" trope quite well.)
Thank you! Water has consistently been one of my favorite things to draw. The way the light shines through all the ripples on the surface and how it can turn all sorts of interesting colors has always been intriguing to me. C:
Awesome interpretation! It was interesting how calm she remained as she flirted with the dangers of traveling to the surface and making a deal with Ursula. She didn't even give the latter any deliberation! Ariel won't get zapped; don't worry!
Thank you so much for your awesome comments! (And many apologies for the delay as I don't check our account every day!)
sorry, I am speak spanish, and "precioso" is the correct word to express my feelings
(sorry for the wrong english D:!)
¡Muchas gracias!
I love this it made me laugh out loud!
That's a classic line and so perfect. I don't think Ariel would have any trouble with Jellies. The light effects are lovely in the back. And she looks so tranquil, and a shade older than the cartoon. Not that that is a bad thing. I like how the jellyfish phosphorescence is lighting her face up so slightly.
First of all, THANK YOU for the awesome comments! You seem totally awesomesauce, and I hope you don't mind another follower on your page so I can keep returning the favour
I don't think she would have much trouble with jellies either-- to be honest, I really wanted to include them in any picture. The phosphorescent orange ones are my favourites because they complement the water so nicely. I ADORE marine life and want to include it in art more.
Thank you again!
I would be happy to have you! And vice versa I hope.
You're so welcome and keep up all the wonderful things!
This looks so great!
And thank you!
although, isn't that line from 'finding nemo'??
Yes, it is from Finding Nemo! I deliberately made it the title because I wanted something a bit less generic than "Ariel" or "Under the Sea"
BTW, I am loving your avatar. I watched it several times!
p.s. why tanchuu
P.S. You're welcome!
'i shall call him squishy and he shall be mine. and he shall be my squishy. come here squishy!!!'
I think there actually is an Ariel/Nemo crossover somewhere on dA.
