Hello again to all fellow artists. As mentioned earlier I am self taught and this info may be handy to you whether you are first learning or even if you are experienced. In portraiture the most basic important fundamental is having the correct proportions.  When I start a drawing my primary focus is that the proportions have to be an exact duplicate. If they are even the slightest bit off it throws off the whole drawing. Even if your work is not technically perfect if the proportions are correct you can still capture the person's essence or being.  That is the key when doing portraits of anybody.
