Today marks the beginning of National Pet Week, a week dedicated to celebrating the pets we call our own and the importance of their companionship in our day-to-day lives. For many, pets are more than just household companions. Each pet has their own personality they bring to a home, and in many ways, they are family.
In uncertain times, pets provide comfort in otherwise unstable scenarios. According to the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention, pets provide many benefits to the health and well-being of people who keep them, including lower stress levels and better management of feelings of loneliness and depression. Especially in the wake of COVID-19 (coronavirus), pets can provide a sense of stability that can make a world of difference in times of self-isolation or necessary contact with others.
