Change of Plans Boys [4]
“Okay gentlemen, and beautiful, sweet, gorgeous lady,” Vivi inhaled, “Let’s try this again.”
Back on this ship, Caster and Terry had been chatting animatedly as Fivik had been browsing the intergalactic web on one of her ship’s guidance screens. There was plenty of food, though most of it was room temperature now, and Ryso had dished himself up some of the leftovers as Vivi got everyone back on topic.
“I bet you’re wondering why you’re all here,” she smiled.
“No, I’m here because you bla-” the joke died on Ryso’s tongue as he got a far-away look in his eyes, “because you made me miss my ship.”
“She didn’t,” Terry commented emphatically. He clucked his tongue in Vivi’s direction, shaking his head. The action made Caster laugh, and Fivik also stifled a chuckle.

To say the public transit area was busy would be an understatement. At this time it was practically swamped with people arriving and departing after their contestants had won or lost. Luckily there was a travel board in the center of the area noting what ships were arriving when and where. After a quick call back to the ship Caster reminded her what planet Ryso was from, it was easy to find the right place to be. One ship, departing to Nidia in thirty minutes.
After grabbing a snack from a vendor she took a seat where she would be able to see anyone trying to board. The golden ring on her head chimed and a holoscreen popped up in front of her.
    “Vivialta Dro-”
“What do you want Mungo-Jerrie,” She didn’t even look at the screen, instead shoving a cheesy fry in her mouth.
“You failed all of the Oceans back here and all you can ask is what I want?” The mu

Vivialta found herself distracted on the way to find Ryso. Her pace was already pretty slow compared to most visitors here, so she should really stay focused. She couldn’t let this opportunity pass though. If Ryso left then she’d have to go and drag him back here by the ear. With a gruff huff of air out her nose she called out to a dejected looking pink figure walking down an adjacent hall.
“Hey kid!” the pink fluff stopped, looking around. Though somewhat hard to read given her lack of visible mouth, she seemed somewhere between confused and offended. Who called her? And who dared to call her a kid? Eyes landing on Vivi, her brows furrowed. Despite a weirdly phrased comment she suspected was supposed to be uplifting at breakfast, they hadn’t really spoken much before.
“Thanks for stopping, I don’t think I woulda been able to catch you if you darted,” Vivi smiled, careful not to sho

Vivi straightened the papers spread over the desk in front of her. Since being kicked from competition she’d had a lot of time to herself. Well, in between getting verbal lashings from Magnus, spending time with the lunch crew, and learning what a “kiss” was. Way more convenient than a klack since not everyone has horns, but also kinda gross and slobbery.
Turning her neck in a quick stretch earned more than one crack of bones, earning a sigh from the kinjomin. The action caused Fivik to look up from what she was watching on her ICH robot to look at the bipedal woman seated at the desk. Vivi, in turn, looked out the window thoughtfully.
    “Fivik.”
    “Yes dear?”
“You said you basically stole your ship to get here right?”
The haliepod frowned shallowly, looking almost ashamed of the wording. “Commandeered really, but I su

Good news was that there was enough water left that Vivi was able to roll to avoid the lazer shot. The blue light bounce harmlessly off her throat. Bad news was that as Vivi righted herself and looked for her opponent she could see him hurriedly moving down the corridor. Her ambush had been a bust. She hadn’t even had a chance to try to get him back.
The water wasn’t even deep enough for her to help herself out by launching on to the ground. Instead she hauled herself up and started at full speed after Terrance. Which was a fools errand. His form quickly moving off in to the distance, the strobing making his departure all the more dramatic. He’d probably be back in half a minute. This time he’d have the advantage, knowing roughly where Vivi would be and having home-field advantage of land.
“Audience!” One of the judge’s voices rang overhead. There was a little bit of feedback that screech

“Good evening, everyone! It’s a game of laser tag! Now, this round IS paired, and your robots will give you the identity of your opponent when we’re done speaking!"
Vivi fussed with the handkerchief that Fivik had given her. This must be for the benefit of the audience, Vivi figured as she delicately tied the kerchief around her horn underneath Amelia. The judges continued to speak as she finished up, her eyes drifting over the gathered competitors. She eventually landed on a face staring right back at her. Terrance. He smiled and waved, Vivi nodded in return. What coincidence that they would have made friends earlier and immediately be forced to compete head to head.
    “Step forward then!”
The pair of them, and the rest of the competitors as well, jumped a little bit and stepped forward on to color coded circles on the ground in front of them.

Vivi approached Fivik, offering a hand instinctively to take one of Fivik’s upper hands and pressing her horn to the back of it. As the Kinjomin straightened she commented a soft, “hey.”
For a moment Fivik still carried a stern face, developed over an impressive military career no doubt. It worried Vivi for a moment before a smile spread on the older woman’s face, “Shall we go for a walk?”
“Are you not trying to get in?” Vivi questioned, motioning back towards the slowing lunch rush within the restaurant. The host looked on before sniffing and turning back to a different customer, now that this issue seemed settled.
“Oh of course not dear,” Fivik paused, peering in to the bustling establishment, “To many sweaty bodies for my taste. Come.”
Vivi laughed weakly, lacking her usual confidence, “Yeah I didn’t

By lunch Vivi decided that enough was enough. There had been no announcements for the next round, and her stomach was complaining loudly. Despite still being upset by her previous performance, her naturally outgoing attitude wouldn’t allow her to mope in her room anymore. Part of her wanted to order room service and watch deep sea diving documentaries made by non-aquatic species and laugh at them. Going out and getting some spotlight always made her feel better though, so the wiser option eventually won out.
In no time at all the kinjomin found herself in one of the lobbies in front of a large area map. Other than the little place she went with Fivik the other night she had no idea what restaurants this place had to offer, and she really wanted to avoid that place. What if Fivik had gone back there? She couldn’t face such a lady after that animalistic display last night.

Vivialta’s right ankle throbbed. It was enough to get her to stop thrashing around like a fish hauled up from the water. The loud reverberations from the metal blockades began to die as Vivi stood before the fence blocking her path, panting heavily after her rage.
She wouldn’t be able to attempt another climb. Her ankle hurt too bad for it. That aside, her arms were too weak to try that again even if she wanted to. Her hands were still shaking after the first attempt.
Was this it? She came all the way here just to blocked by a stupid fence? The kinjomin snarled, slamming her fist against the chain-link. It rattled but did not give way. Of course it wouldn’t. That would be too easy. Just like being able to be in the water was too easy. The whole thing just ticked her off. There was no way she came half-way across the galaxy just to be stopped by a single, standard, fence. She could hear Magnus laughing at her.

Vivi rose with the sun. It was an unfortunate side-effect of the last half sweep of daily training sessions. The kinjomin had forgone the use of the large bed in the room in favor of sleeping in the jacuzzi style tub her room offered instead. Tired eyes turned to look out the window as the sun began to rise in to view over the edge of the arena opposite her room with a big yawn. The still water bubbled around her muzzle as her jaw snapped shut and she exhaled, nostrils just barely below the surface to cause the disruption.
Amelia the ICH buzzed in to life as Vivi stirred. Vivialta briefly wondered if it was programmed to her heartbeat or something to let it know when she was up, but in the end decided not to mull on it too much. Instead she ordered room service while the golden ring started chirping a cheery song to wake up to.
By the time Vivi had eaten breakfast, which she had set up on a folding table just outside her “b

Vivi adjusted the tie around her neck smartly as she regarded herself in the mirror. The golden ring of robot on her horn softly played big band music as she got ready. “First day off planet and I’ve been accepted in to a prestigious sporting event, I got a personal robot, and I have a diner date with a beautiful gal who I can only assume is also a talented athlete.”
A small grin spread across her muzzle as she finished touching up her eyeliner, her teeth gleaming in the light. “That drowning rock of a planet didn’t deserve you Vivi you gorgeous animal you.” She blew herself a kiss in the mirror as she turned to leave. “Amelia, turn off the music please.”
From her head the robot chirped as the music cut off. Before the suit-clad Vivi left her room she stopped to reach to the bottom of her refurbished treasure trunk. Down past all of her still unpacked clothes where she tenderly dug
