Would you ever do a Godzilla Neo version of whatever monster outside of someone commissioning you to do so?

Hypothetically, sure. That's Matt Frank's alternate Godzilla design series, right? Yeah, all of those are amazing. I just have so many commissions and personal projects that it's hard to do everything I wanted just for fun.

Wow man, this looks better than the original render, much more like real skin and the shadows are softer with better ambient occlusion

Indeed. Keyshot gets it done! It's a way easier interface, that never crashes, BUT, it takes way longer when it's a complicated render with SSS and all that good stuff. One pass took almost 3 hours. I am rendering pretty big tho. Thank you, DW.

Did you set up individual lights inside of keyshot as well as the HDRI lighting? I've only used the image based lighting but it looks like you've got some nice highlights in just the right spots too

Actually no, I use the HDRI lighting, then try out different materials. Then try out different textures. Then render out different plates for different areas on the render, and then in Photoshop I compose the thing together. Much like I do in zBrush, but it's just more intense. Lots of trail and error tho. The interface is dreamy. The render time isn't.

lol, yeah I haven't used keyshot in a while just because of the render times. Have you seen the area where you can input how long you want it to take? It'll set up the best render quality within the timeframe set, ie 20mins, 40 mins, 2 hours, etc. I found that setting it to 35 or 40 mins for a render didn't really kill the quality of the shadowing and lighting on some of the renders, though if the sss is on that may be what is taking some of the bulk of time as well....

Since the update, render times seem to vary, depending on the material you choose. Yes, I used to see that area, but it's not where it was any more. I gotta find it.
