Goretober Day 27: Staying Alive

There's too much desire to make the enemy dehumanized, that they aren't worth thinking about.

My Grandfather said the Wehrmacht was some of the best folks he met.  They were just fighting for country and family, just like he was.  They did bad things, well, so did he.  Canadians and them were the dirty, nasty ends of the spears of both sides, things that didn't go into letters.  Or any other forms of writing.

And the fact that one of them went out of his way to out SS Soldiers who were hiding as Wehrmacht cemented their relationship, and he made sure that guy was decently treated as much as possible.  After they hung the SS guy who was a real piece of shit.  He refused to say why.

There are too many reasons why for me to even try to guess why.
