Cheap Thrills Detective cover by DoodleLyle Cheap Thrills Detective cover by DoodleLyle
This is one of my latest experiments in digitally creating artwork that looks like hand-painted work from the past. The piece was created using Poser 7 (with some personally made props, many stock props, and one specially purchased--the Colt .45). After a reasonable pose was complete the image was rendered at 350 dpi and heavily modified in Photoshop (over about a month's time, messed with here and there as time allowed). The "weathered look" was achieved by scanning the inside cover and first page of a water damaged issue of Weird Science no. 12 (East Coast Comix version) and removing all actual copyrighted materials by using clone tool, then compositing the artwork and type on top of that image using "multiply" in layers.
