Another Batman cover--this one a recreation I did with a particular Poison Ivy fan in mind. This is my recreation of Batman #181 the first appearance of PI, only redrawn with Botticelli's "Birth of Venus" in mind. I actually reposed all the figures in accord with Botticelli, but then had to turn them in space to fit the vertical format of the comic cover. I like the idea that Robin is rushing forward to cover Ivy with his cape. It's funny. Anyway this one got a double "after" credit since it is based on both Botticelli and Infantino's original cover design. I had a lot of fun doing this one.

As in many other cases, I'm only claiming copyright on the actual drawing (and that as a derivative work), but all the other rights are held by DC Comics--and there will be no prints.

Artwork copyright James E. Lyle. Batman, Robin, Poison Ivy, and all other distinctive likenesses and logos are copyright and trademark of DC Comics. Presented here only for demonstration purposes (look, I can draw stuff!)
