Within the Walls

It took rescue crews 5 days of continuous searching and evacuation, but eventually every missing person from that day was accounted for. I had the seeding drones operating wires and carrying those we thought were in critical conditions quickly to the surface. I think by the end of it people deemed missing from over a month ago were recovered, but I didn't personally recognize any of them.

Fortunately, the few people who may have seen me... during the confrontation... have been silent during the rescue. I can only hope they couldn't see what happened. People already are confused beyond belief about this, I cannot blame them.. at all. How do I even report this incident? Massive subterranean worms ate some horrens including my assistant but it's all fine now?! Thankfully my brother's... I need to breath before saying that.
Thankfully... my brother's carcass.. decayed before rescue crews arrived.
That sounds awful... I can see why the others of our kin stay away from me.

I now know of the one who helped my brother. Balaseth and his adversary are new developments. The mysterious one behind the walls of Horre's skyscrapers. I have felt him within the City for some time now, humming behind the walls.

Balaseth I know is a corrupting influence, possibly related to the Balall of Horren mythology, I know he still roams somewhere with his newfound body. Hopefully I can track him down soon.

Meanwhile, the one in the walls has already reached out to me. I think he reached out. Maybe I just eavesdropped in ways I didn't know I could; in the late nights of the recovery my mind drifted, I felt a place deep below my feet, machines turning and some terrifying intelligence beaming lights across some dark expanse. Something lies on a molded throne, welded to its seat, I heard it mumbling with a lipless mouth.
"All you could ask for... not going up... just leave me alone and take them... I already set it up..."
It never looked at me, just motionless, towering spines erupting from its form, limbs melted into its resting place.

Bruna is fine... thank God. The worst injuries anyone had were lesser chemical burns and some broken bones. Most of the dangerous injuries were from the rescue teams trying to evacuate people from the tunnels. At least I can say that my brother didn't want to hurt people... yet. I don't know what he would do under Balaseth.

I am going to miss him though.
