A whale that walks on its teeth

I had forgotten to draw this Late Miocene whale. Most will probably know it because it has a unique look.

This is Odobenocetops, a Delphinoid more related to narwhals than dolphins. It's about 3 to 4 meters long and is easily recognized by its tusks and short snout that looks a lot like that of a walrus. The tusks are special: in males, they were on the left only 25 centimeters long, but on the right they were 1,30 meters. What the use of these tusks is, is not known. Some think it's a sensory organ like the tusks of narwhals to find food. We know because of its short snout it must've been a bottom feeder so that could be quite possible.

It looks almost as though a walrus crossbred with a dugong.

Haha, no problem :D
It's a species you're kind of obliged to do if you're doing a prehistoric whale series. And it's kinda cute too.

obodadobo! Gaming Beaver reference there, this is such an amazingly adorable creature. They were the narwhals before narwhals!

ODOBENOCETOPS LEPTODON
I avoided seeing the description, and decided to recall the name from the best of my memory, from where I last heard this deviation's title uttered. Let's see if it's right.....
Nice work!

You're correct! There's also a second species called O. peruvianus.

Thanks :)
