Literature Text
Spring arrived in a trill—
What a thrill—
Lilting off the tongue
Of a young
Robin.
It strutted
in spiritual swirls
and baton twirls.
Catching a breeze,
floating with ease,
until it stumbled
onto thunder’s stage.
The whole sky leaned in, amazed
at its performance—
then the mike dropped,
heralding the season.
It tumbled
its verdant head
over high pink heels,
falling with rain
in warm, heavy drops.
It arrived,
waking the earth
up again.

Sounds of Spring
I love the many sounds,
of spring;
faint whispers of songbirds,
and other things.

Storm Song
Storm SongThunder rolls off the distant horizon.
Beating like the sound of many drums,
Beats in my heart,
Calls me to come.
Lightning flashes through distant storm clouds.
Striking awe into my soul,
Sings sweetly to me,
Calls me to come.
Rain pours down like ever present tears.
Washing away yesterdays fears,
Cleansing my spirit,
So that I might, come.
The thunder beats,
And I dance.
The lighting strikes,
And I sing.
The rain pours down,
And I am purified,
So that I might come,
Home.

Thunder in the Valley (New and Edited version)
Here there are only crystal droplets of thunder
lifting flats, staffs in scorching sun
Hairline fractures spindle upward blurring craters
Graphite teeth gnaw on rivers’ runs.To the South, to the North, to the West and the East
Liquid survival gorges: flesh
Battered rainfalls tiptoe; navy cowering beast
Limestone ladders peek through clouds’ mesh. The hazy sawdust valley coughs out in distaste
Horizons burn in crimson-orange jest
Triangle tails quilt daffodil dust, a crude face
Dragons’ wings unfold: vibrant chests.Fire-kissed craters wink like dull eyes far below
The clouds crinkle, a smile: transparent tears flow.
