Mandleve

Description

One of the earliest canvases I completed this size (my standard wildlife paintings @ 80cm by x meter - metric) To me the stance seems a little stiff and contrived, but it has been a popular piece non the less.

Mandleve was a famous elephant - one of the "big 7" These elephants go down in history as being the largest tuskers on record. Mandleve was the last to die of the group, his tusks being the heaviest on record. These tusks are on display in the 'Kruger National Park' - South Africa

This is pretty much an exact replica of the elephant before he died. Left unhindered, elephants have been known to live up to 100 years - a deeper understanding to the phrase "an elephant never forgets"
