Donatella Marcatajo, born in 1990, is an Italian painter.
Born in a family of artists, she's self-taught and she inherites from her grand-father her painting skills.
Since she was a child, she's attracted by drawing and, expecially, during her adolescence, she dedicates herself to comics, participating also to many national competitions. Subsequently, in her continue artistic research, she tries a lot of techniques and she finds a personal way in watercolors. Some of her works are selected for illustration of books. Finally, her artistic research reaches the sublime technique: oil on canvas.
Her first paintings are inspirated by the symbolic realism of Pre-Raphaelites.
In 2013 she studies more the realism in painting knowing Hyperrealism. Especially, her paintings are very influenced by Austrian and hyperrealist painter Gottfried Helnwein, of whom she visit the retrospective in Vienna in 2013. In fact, in her works there is a perfect union between aestethic research and provocative and strong social messages.
From 2013 she partecipates to many international competitions and exports her art in many italian and international cities, included relevant international art fairs such as Padua Art Fair and Art Shopping in the museum of the Louvre, in Paris.
In 2014 she partecipates to the group exhibition named "Isole Contemporanee", organized by Milena Romeo, Art Promotion (by Giuseppe Filistad) and the japanese art dealer Chie Yoshioka in Taormina, where a group of Sicilian artists has been confronted to Japanese ones.
