Almalexia: Ebonheart Pact

This was a highly experimental project for me, both in what I was drawing, and how I was drawing it. It was created entirely in vanilla paint.net, using a shading technique I had figured out faffling about in paint.net. It's fairly simple, it involves a "shading" layer, which is itself largely transparent, and then using transparency in the shading colors to mimic the way real paint works, e.g. going over an area several times with a brush will make it darker. This allowed me to easily make smooth shading, depending on how fast I stroked the brush and how many times, without using any highly sophisticated software such as Corel Painter.

The other reason it was experimental for me, is that people are generally hard (for me) to draw, and so I wanted to draw a person, 'cause accomplishment and stuff. So with the release of Elder Scrolls Online just around the corner, and be being a massive Elder Scrolls nerd/geek/fan, I chose Almalexia as the subject to draw. I used the Morrowind version of her and her clothes as reference, but largely I changed the color scheme, textures and details to make it more appropriate to ESO's time period, for instance the Ebonheart Pact emblem and the Daedric symbols.
