Shadow Alchemist: Transmutation Array WIP by docwinter Shadow Alchemist: Transmutation Array WIP by docwinter
I realised early on that the Shadow Alchemist would need an Transmutation Circle; and considering that his Alchemy is somewhat complex I've decided that his array had to reflect that.

ALCHEMIST INFO:
Alchemist Title: The Shadow Alchemist
Alchemy Abilities: ability to manipulate the absence of light to create solid objects, obscure objects at night; the more darkness there is, the more powerful his alchemy
Alchemy they Specialize in: Light [absence of] (On official documents), Void Alchemy (officially)
Azrael discovered 'Void Alchemy' or alchemy powered by the veil that separates the living world from the Gate realm by accident when researching in the state archives, continuing the research he unlocked the ability to manipulate the forces of the void as represented by shadows by way of alchemy, When he first attempted to use this alchemy a portion of the Void (which is actually a 'living' thing) attached itself to Azrael the two now live in a symbiotic relationship, where the void creature powers his alchemy, and Azrael keeps the creature sustained. Prolonged use of Void Alchemy is greatly taxing on Azrael and he has to meditate in his downtime to realign the forces that be and recover the damage to his 'soul'.
His Alchemy isn't as powerful during the middle of the day as this is the time when his connection to the void is at its weakest and while he is still able to perform transmutations, it is powered by the fragment of the Void within him.

The First Draft of Azreal Gotha's Transmutation Circle, I need to add the Greek and Latin characters to it, as well as the alchemical commands, but what do you think?

I think that the circle looks very cool, but you would need to give a more detailed explanation as to how it works to get feedback on it. I'm assuming the black and white nodes represent light and shadow? You should submit this to :iconalchemy-junkies: if you want some good feedback on the array itself. ^_^

I like the idea of his mode of alchemy, but frankly, I don't see how he can transmute his own body into shadows. After all, alchemy can only transmute things of similar types, for example one mineral into another, or one water-based substance into another. Transmuting a complex organic structure into what is effectively the absence of light is more like magic than alchemy, it doesn't fit the "rules" of transmutation (as explained by Al or one of the Desueification guides).

If you want something similar that fits with the alchemy in FMA, you could have Azrael merge into shadows by transmuting the light/shadows around himself, so that maybe light refracts around him, rendering him invisible; or shadows form around him, rendering him invisible. By doing that on a large scale he could certainly conceal troop movements, making it seem as though they disappear and reappear.

Hope that helps!

that is exactly what he does.. I really must go back to this array and put that in there. I explained it on one of the other submissions I did about him
