keyboard layouts -us + ger- by DoctrineDesigns keyboard layouts -us + ger- by DoctrineDesigns
us international standard keyboard layout
german standard keyboard layout
(both without alt-graph mapping)

here's what it's for:
i have some sort long-term study going on about keyboard layouts. 'long-time', because it's more difficult than i thought it to be, and it will take some more months, and probably never getting finished.
why is that? because my ultimate goal will be the ultimate keyboard layout. suitable for EVERY (normal) person on this planet with a computer and being as up-to-date about its usage as possible. this is of course a 'fluid' thing, because with evolving technology there will always be functions and buttons on the keyboard that will get useless, and others will be missed, because nobody cares about revolutionizing the standard keyboard layouts!

this is caused to the problem that i grew sick of those stupid keyboards we use nowadays, with a layout leading developed back in the early 80s and so far away from being modern as it could be.
i want to - at least in theory - change that. and you can help me.

here is what YOU have to do with all this:
i want you to help me with it. simply by stating what fucks you up about your keyboard! in a comment or message or something, i don't care, just let me know about it.

- what do you dislike or like about your keyboard and its layout?
- what button or function wouldn't you miss?
- what ARE you missing on your keyboard right now?
- have you any suggestions what should be improved about the layout?

i think keypads might be on their way out as the technology develops that lets handwriting interpretation become more easily read and translated to text characters. on the old palm pilots you had to follow an exact symbol pattern, but nowadays for car dealerships and some of the communications platforms I've seen, you just write out on the touchscreen and it picks it up and produces text from it.

i think inevitably, single letter at a time typing will fall aside as talk-to-text transcribing and touchpad writing innovates.

yes, basically you're absolutely right.

but that doesn't help me at all *gg*
that just makes my studies obsolete lol

keyboards as an input device WILL most probably vanish from our technologic world at some point, but we are FAR away from this point where other devices can actually replace common keyboards completely.

let's say, this project should improve our live around the typed-in words up to then. and let's face it, this won't be in a few decades.

hopefully some more useful input: i always turn caps lock by accident. i think it should GO AWAY and leave me alone.

absolutely my thought!!
i see no sense in that button, too.
it had to vanish anyways ^^

what also has to go are double keys, as CTRL, Shift, Win/Mac, the numbers, the four basic math operations, enter/return.
as well as scroll lock and num lock, because nobody ever needed them.
