Gimp 2.8 Photoshop Tweaks by doctormo Gimp 2.8 Photoshop Tweaks by doctormo
To help a fellow deviant, I've put together a download that anyone with Gimp 2.8 on Linux can use to make their copy of gimp look more like Adobe Photoshop and make people more comfortable.

I've taken various bits of guides online and various tweaks. All you have to do is download the file, unzip it. Then in the file manager go to your home folder, show hidden files, delete or move your old .gimp-2.8 configuration folder out of the way, and replace with the new one. Then load gimp. Then me know if it works for you or if it fails.

Update: Icon were blurry in the original icon theme. I've patched them all up to be much clearer.
Update2: The drop here text is now gone and the default background when loading is the same dark grey.
Update3: Now on github github.com/doctormo/GimpPs

Nice theme, really good job. you should check out my theme GIMP Icon Theme: Flat by android272 maybe you could incorporate some more icons. though be warned its kinda buggy right now. I am trying to get the kinks worked out.

Looks nice, let me know if you figure out how to remove the "drop tools here" text, it's rather annoying.

never thought about removing that text... not sure if you can. but it would be nice. I don't understand why anyone would want to add a panel there.

I already looked at your theme and figured it out. I don't like how you took Wilber away in the empty image but I guess you are tyring to go for a PS look. did you know that you can take him away in the gimprc file by setting (toolbox-wilber no)? I don't like taking GIMP out of GIMP but thats what your going for.  Right now Im trying to mess with my colors. if you look at my gtkrc files you will notice that they are two completely different files. I want to make a gtkrc file that is spisificly for GIMP, and each them would have the same file but with different colors.

Then again Photoshop has their feather so I guess it might not be such a big deal to some.

No I was talking about Wilber over the tool box. if you edit the gimprc file and change (toolbox-wilber yes) to (toolbox-wilber no) then Wilber will be gone. the space is takin away. take a look at this guys theme.New GIMP layout (downloadable theme) by ZZDas

I actually made wilber very faint, the two colours aren't the same ;-) But I do see your point about taking wilber out. I wish I could change that image tbh.

You caught me, I was just looking through your theme and mixing and matching bits. You've done a really professional job on it and it's probably a testimony to your hacking skills. Pravo.

The version that I liked the most of GIMP was 2.7 because the bars had scrolls. Now I am forced to have 2.6 that don't have a lot of features but that have the scrolls. And there is also gegls transformations that 2.8 dropped.

Interesting; perhaps you could have a patched version? Or maybe 2.10 which I hear has backtracked on a few things. Let me know, maybe I can help.

I just might give it a go, since the current multi window version bugs me. Thanks:).
