Every year, dropzones take a day in early March for an event dedicated to improving safety in the sport.
This began several years ago, sponsored by the US Parachute Association.
Each center will spend the day in activities designed to increase jumper awareness of safety issues.
Some dz's have classe which are tailored to the local needs. One year we had a device to practice actual cutaways, using our own gear suspended above the floor.
The early March date, also uses the time when weather is less amenable to actual jumping.
At our dz, I recorded some images from several of the presentations.
The first is Regional Director, Jack Pyland giving a presentation of what went wrong in the sport last year.
The next was a presentation on aircraft safety by our Chief Pilot.
One of our riggers gave a talk on gear checks.
