Description
Today is the birthday of my grandfather, the one who studied me how to draw with strokes back in my childhood. It was simple, but in that times, when there were no internet, it was a secret technique for me. He also showed me the gallery of his friend who worked as an iconographer. I was impressed of the smell of the oils and unfinished paintings on canvases... I didn't think of myself as an artist since I had a trauma of being mocked for drawing stupid things. He encouraged me, as well as his daughter, who is also my mother. Thanks to them I don't hide my art.
I decided to draw a tribute sketch in memory of my grandparent and my first art teacher. As for a character to draw I chose the one who was actually inspired by my gran, the Greenscale clan Elder, Ozgalor, one of the oldest dragons in my story, "The Obsidian Wyrm". He lives for at least four centuries and thanks to bonding with dragons from different clans he has a lot of descendants. In fact, he's a direct ancestor for probably the half of all living dragons in the main timeline! I still haven't decided if he's the ancestor for Agnar or Khrork or both, but it doesn't actually matter. I can say, Lyzegora, who will appear as a mascot soon, shares most of his visual traits, as his grandgrandgrandgranddaughter.
As for Ozgalor's character traits similar to my gran's they are: positive thinking, being talkative, likes to teach, even if someone doesn't want it. As for a dragon himself, he lives a steady life, maintaining balance between clans and bloodlines. He doesn't rule the clan directly: his councelors, who are some of his eldest descendants take care of different communities the located far away from each other. So Ozgalor is more like a living symbol, the symbol of Age of Silence, the age that started after the Great Wrath ( the event that was described in Prologue). He has a hobby of balancing things, from tiny stones to big boulders. His "throne room" is designed with three balanced stone pillars, so he wants his guests to act calm and quiet in his presence, since any sudden move or sound might ruin the balance.
I wanted this picture to be an announcement of DTIYS I plan for 300 watchers, but since I didn't achieve it I just announced it in case it happens. If I'll be able to do such simple, but good looking images, I can do some rewards for the winners. There will be updates about the character and age to be featured in my part of the contest. Stay tuned!
I did this drawing in less than two hours. I know others can do masterpieces for 10 minutes, but... Whatever.
This is absolute cinema
