The Artificer Chapter 9: Chaos Raining Down
Thomson stared at where Braxtons body was, he dug into his bag pulling out a crescent flower that got inside while he was swimming. “Rest” Thomson whispered, laying the flower on the pillar. He then turned, walking down the altar steps meeting up with the group who were discussing something. “Is something wrong?” Thomson asked noticing the concerned faces. “We don’t know how we even get out of here” The tiefling said while looking around. The tiefling noticed the crack in the glass above slowly start expanding loud enough to alert everyone. “That can’t be good” Thomson said backing up closer to the doors they came through. “No shi-” Zorloft sarcastically retorted being cut off by the ceiling starting to break sending glass, dirt, and rocks below. “We have to get out soon or this won’t only be Braxtons tomb” Zorloft said running for the doors. Both pillars next to the doors started to crumble as they started to collapse falling near Zorloft. “Watch out!” Thomson yelled, making Zorloft

“There you are, Where’s Braxton?!, What happened to you all?! And why was the sky blood red with orange lightning!?” Veridon started frantically asking questions as the group arrived back at the camp. The camp had burns around it with some of the tents burnt and the sky losing its red tinge. “Braxton got possessed and died then destroyed the temple, I think that sums it up” Zorloft said taking a swig out of his flask walking past Veridon into his tent. “Is that even true?” Veridon questioned looking back at Zorlofts tent. “Sadly yes ma’am” Xeverin said head down “But we were able to save some treasure” holding out his share of the treasure in both hands. “That will have to do please set them on the table” Veridon said sadly. “As for the rest of you, all though the temple was destroyed, I and the company are very grateful and we will send you home in three weeks giving us enough time to search and recover artifacts.” Veridon said, marking something down on a clipboard. “In the meantime

A young Thomson found himself trying to free himself from the man who had him by the scruff of his shirt as he was dragging him upwards. He wanted to scream or beg him to stop but his voice was still nearly gone and he needed to save it. Thomson was brought above deck seeing the cargo the crew was dragging around along with a man in a fancy blue uniform watching over deck. Thomson couldn’t recognize the area with pine trees and it seems to be an island. “I found this little stowaway hidden beneath the deck sir” the sailor said, dropping Thomson to the floor in front of him. The man's stoic face didn’t change as he got on his knee to be eye level with Thomson “now what makes you think anyone can just hitch a ride on this vessel son.” Thomson kept his eyes to his boots but knew he had to answer as he felt his stare “I- I didn’t know… I uh just forgot to pay?” Thomson said taking out a small amount of gold he estimated was the same price as a ticket. “Now, now son who said this can be

The tiefling opened their eyes seeing a field by a tree, they moved their arm over their eyes to hide from the sun. “What do you see?” Xeverin said “Nothing yet, just a field.” The tiefling said walking from behind a tree on a hill. Below he could see a man fighting what looked like an owl. The tiefling sprinted down the hill and blasted it with their wand. “Are you alright?” The tiefling asked the man as he turned to reveal he was Braxton. “No I've been fighting these for what feels like days” Braxton said loading his pistol “I can’t sleep or even rest, more appear every time they’ve even been getting more persistent.” Braxton said while kicking the owl's body as it dispersed “they’ve never done this before” Braxton mumbled as more turned to ash. Braxton readied his pistol “what happened to you?” The tiefling said going back to back with Braxton. “Nothing you should know but all that matters is after I touched an idol I saw on an altar I ended up here, whatever here even is.”

“This place is huge, '' Xeverin said, his voice echoing through the hallways. “Shhhh we don't know where he is,'' the tiefling whispered. “Shut up you two listen” Zorloft whispered as sounds of echoing footsteps were coming from the large door on the right. Everyone paused, staring forward as everyone split onto each side of the door preparing to push it open. “I’m done waiting” Sircowski boasted and pushed open the doors revealing their location with the tiefling slamming their hand into their face. “Guess we don’t have a choice” Thomson said after putting a hand on their arm then moving next to Sircowski with the others preparing their weapons. Thomson pulled out his spell book and his collapsible crossbow. The party stepped inside as a group seeing Braxton on the far side of the room, in front of an altar with his back turned to an orange glow. Thomson gulped and tried to quietly get a better look of what’s going on slowly crossing the sixty foot gap. “What is that idiot

The party makes their way to the temple quickly as the orange lightning bolts from the sky are getting closer to hitting them. The temple is very large, about 50 feet in height, it has a circular shape with broken windows on its side. The walls are adorned with owl statues with orange jewels in the eyes “I'll be taking that '' Zorloft said climbing on one of the carts nearby reaching for one of the jewels. The second Zorloft touched it the sky around them turned a brighter red as energy was building around them preparing to strike down. “Move!” The tiefling said as the party scattered ducking for cover in the shops and woods. A loud boom was heard throughout the whole island as the stores and environment looked nearly unrecognizable, as the ground was singed taking down some trees. “Is everyone ok?” Thomson asked, peeking his head out from the side of a shop. “I think so,” Wowza replied, pulling themselves out from a fallen tree. The party reconvened outside of the

A young Thomson screams “DON'T DO THIS WE CAN MAKE IT OUT TOGETHER!” as he is knocked into the secret passage outside of the observatory only hearing the men break down the door as fire soon engulfs the observatory burning it to the ground as he watches with tears streaming down his face. Thomson suddenly hears a loud siren as he looks around and he's engulfed by a bright orange light. Thomson suddenly wakes up in a cold sweat, panting with tears in his eyes. He covers his eyes with his arm seeing the light through the door, as he looks for the location of the blaring noise through squinted eyes. He sees his custom made grandfather alarm clock and pulls the chain to shut it up. He rubs his eyes and face trying to remember what he had to do today. The minutes go by until he hears a loud bell ring and a call “seven minutes to leave, once again last chance to board the Voyager'' Thomson's eyes widened “my first adventure, and i'm about to miss it!” He falls out of bed

A young Thomson found himself in the motion of running back to town. “HELP! He screamed until his vocal cords were shredded. He finally made it to the town but there was a large crowd waiting for him. Out of breath he barely was able to scream out “the Observatory was under attack– Dalen is still- inside.” The crowd didn't move, instead had skeptical looks and some even had weapons and tools. Thomson before anything could happen next was woken up by a wooden creaking and wet noise. He moved his hat off his eyes to see a gigantic tentacle looking back at him. It made an attempt to smash into Thomson but he dodged seeing the barrel splinter into the monster's appendage. He looked overboard and wasn't prepared for what he saw next. The whole ship was lifted far above the water and below it was a giant squid with his beak wide open grabbing sailors from the ship and tossing it into its maw. Thomson ran out to the main deck to see his co workers fighting aswell.Thomson dug into
