No you don't.  It was stupid writing that made Starlight Glimmer go insane for the stupidest reason ever, so chances are, Starlight Glimmer's just a big-lipped alligator moment.  But trust me, even a moment like this won't do the series justice.

Stupid? Hardly. You have no idea how many real life human beings will turn on everyone around them just because they were left behind by a friend. That's how many abusive boyfriends and girlfriends get that way, in fact. Not every person has a perfectly rational way of thinking, especially if they're a child who has known nothing but one specific way of life.
It looks irrational to those on the outside, but to someone who has actually experienced something similar, it would seem perfectly justified. It's like someone who has been attacked by a dog, or beaten by a lover. One dog alone can make the entire species seem terrifying, and one abusive partner can make someone scared to ever be in a relationship again, even if the rest of the world knows that one does not equal all. I know this from experience.

To lose your closest, or possibly only, friend in such a dramatic and sudden way, without any time to react, could really shock a person into thinking the one simple thing that happened seconds before the incident was the entire cause of everything they knew being pulled away. This is especially true for someone who isn't used to change. If nobody sat down to talk to her about it afterward, or if nobody else tried to ease her frustrations or help her keep in contact with Sunburst, she very likely could have fallen into an angry depression of sorts. She would have felt completely alone, with nobody to vent to. I, again, know this from experience.

This is meant for Artissimo. Can you send to him with regards from me? He's blocked me.

I knew it. You're posing as a brony so people won't say you're cheap shotting them and that your arguments may be solid. You're just like this one kid in my school who says Kingdom Hearts sucks, and he's never played it. I had my suspicions ever since I went to your DA works page and not a trace of ponies anywhere. Anti-bronies like you are the real abomination. Not because you don't like the show, I can respect that opinion, but because you're incredibly vocal about your unfounded opinion. Until you give the show a glance, I will not cease this flame war until you relent.

And the average human being would be so traumatized they would be driven to mess up the entire time-space continuum and distort the fabric reality of the universe itself?  Sorry, but that is stupid.  Come at me again, bro.
inside-our-mind's avatar
People are driven to murder by that same sort of event. So yes. If we had the technology to alter space and time, then there is no doubt a person would go out of their way to get their hands on that technology, legally or not, and change their past to ensure they could keep their life the way they wanted to.
Try taking psychology sometime.

Okay, you're just being a troll, I can tell.  And you're over-exaggerating.  If this was true, then why weren't the Cutie Mark Crusaders driven to anything or psychologically scarred?  Can you answer me that?  Yeah, for the longest time, they didn't have their cutie marks and they suffered WAY more than Starlight Glimmer in her nonsensical back story.  They suffered discrimination, abuse, hatred, bullying, and more.  In my opinion, if you compare that to Starlight Glimmer, her back story is just lazy writing.  Just try to make me change my mind about that.  Just try.  Do you DARE to force YOUR opinions on ME like any Internet jerk will do?  I suggest we drop this and you say it's not worth dealing with me.  Because you can't force me to think differently.  So, you want me to take psychology?  Well, here's me getting even with you.  Go crawl in a hole, mole.  Now stop bothering me.

I'm incredibly late in replying, but you sound like you spend most of your time on tumblr. If that's the case, you should really be more capable of understanding this sort of thing.

Something that people like you need to understand is that not everyone thinks the same way. Some are mentally stronger than others. The CMC have each other. They have friends, they have family. They are optimistic, and were raised to see the bright side of things.
Starlight Glimmer had nobody to speak of. There was only one person she was close to.

Let me give you a lesson in human psychology.

When I was 14 years old, I was home alone when the neighbor's dog broke into the backyard and began killing our animals. At the time, we were raising chickens for fresh eggs, and when I looked out the window, the large white beast was thrashing the birds around like ragdolls. The cats had scatterred, the other dogs were going berserk in their kennel. I, a young teenager, home alone, had to go out the front door to try and flag down a passing driver in the middle of the mountains. There were 5 houses on our street, including ours, and no other houses for 6 miles in any direction.
I stood across the street from my home, where safety was supposed to be, as the large white dog, blood covering its face, trotted straight toward me, with soulless, killer eyes peering into my soul and right out through me.

I can still watch graphic dog attack scenes in movies, but I go into a severe panic attack if I see a dog, any dog, running loose outside of a yard.

My mother, on the other hand, was actually attacked by a dog, around the same time. She was visiting a client for her music business, making preparations for a party, when the client's dog pulled free from his chain and ripped into her arm. She had to go to the hospital and receive several stitches.

She cannot watch graphic dog attack scenes in movies, but she has no problem at all interacting with large, unchained or loose dogs. In fact, the only dogs she has bias against are dogs talked about in news reports, not even the breed she was attacked by.

Both of us had traumatizing interactions with large dogs, but we both have different long-term reactions to it.

If you tell two children "There's a monster in the closet", one will hide under the covers once you turn out the light, while the other will badmouth the supposed monster in an effort to be tough.

Also take into account mental stability. Clearly, the CMC are very mentally sound. Starlight Glimmer likely isn't, as she has very obvious and beyond distructive abandonment issues. Each person's brain works differently. This is common sense, one would think. I really shouldn't have to tell you this.

I had a girlfriend some years ago, at around 16 years old, who I had eventually dumped after getting tired of her attempting to make our relationship polyamorous when I wasn't comfortable with it. Any normal 18 year old girl would have accepted this, probably apologized, but eventually moved on. Not Jasmine. Instead, she told me that her boyfriend that I had dumped her over was abusing her, and reading her emails, yet she was continuing to email apologies to me, begging me to take her back. Then, after a year of not hearing from her, she sent me a text saying "I need you. I had a miscarriage yesterday. I found out I was a day pregnant three days before. I love you, please call me."
I've confirmed with my mother (who has had two children of her own) that this is not possible. None of that would have been noticeable. The pregnancy would have gone unnoticed.

Starlight Glimmer is just like Jasmine. She lost something, and went crazy.

As for the comment about me being a troll, you obviously have no idea what a troll is.

Have you ever heard of "cumulative events"? That could be what happened here.
TheThunder-Art's avatar
I'm not sure I'm familiar with "cumulative events", but if bronies are just making shit up and trying to call it canon, I ain't buying jack shit.
