DeviantArt Eclipse has multiple changes that will make it difficult for Art Role Play Games and other similar communities to continue functioning on this site. I'm concerned for the future of my hobby and community and if you are too, now is an important time to speak up.
For people in the ARPG, Role Play or Original Species communities, if you have concerns about the pending shift to DeviantArt's site design and need a place to collaboratively discuss your worries and ways to give strategic feedback, I have set up a Discord server (linked at bottom of the journal). It's still a WIP and the membership is low, but you can join if you're interested.
Also, I'm now compiling a list of known features being removed from or changed on the Eclipse site Beta that will negatively (sometimes severely so) impact the ARPG, Role Play or Original Species communities. It can be found below. If you'd like to add to the list, please comment on this journal and I'll add them in.
Feel free to share this journal around.

Site Features in Eclipse That Impact ARPG, RP & OS/CS Communities
“Show More” on deviation descriptions hides the artist's comments unless clicked.
(this has been removed)Saved Notifications in folders
from the old inbox haven't migrated into the new inbox. If you use this feature to save genos or records of comment chain trades, you should back these up somewhere else in the event they aren't transferred over.
Unfeaturing journals no longer hides them from immediate view. If you have trackers, you can't hide them from cluttering your other journals.
Journals can no longer be browsed by a list of titles in the sidebar
. Instead, the side bar features only thumbnail previews
(unlike most functional blogs). There is no option I'm aware of at the moment to adjust this.Threaded view and Flat view options
for comments is gone. You can currently only browse by Newest or Oldest
with comments default in Nested mode.Paging through comments
is gone. So is the ability to select 100 comments per page. Instead, you must load more
comments when you reached the bottom of the current view, similar to browsing comments on YouTube. This will make is nigh impossible to easily search or navigate most comment aggregating journals like DracoStryx's Breeding Requests
or other similarly long journals.
Gallery search and Journal search are currently missing in the Eclipse Beta, though staff have assured that they will be returned. Until then, the Beta makes navigating Masterlist accounts very difficult.
The Notifications Center has been done away with, with Watch and Feedback split into two separate pages. Feedback is notoriously hard to use and has no category-sorted overview. Feedback notifs are enormous and the page is hard to view. Site staff have promised to look into making removing single notifications one click and enabling mass removal of notifications, but no word has been given on the other aforementioned problems.

If you have something to say about Eclipse, please submit your reviews! The staff need to know why these features do and do not work for us, more than simply stating you do or do not like Eclipse.
