It is indeed mine. I like to think that if there were a California Stig and he wanted to go off-roading on a budget, this would be his vehicle

I really like the 944 for some reason, always have. I considered getting one before I got my other white bmw. There is just something about the 944, and a jalopy one is even better. But I know every bolt inside of e30's so that's why I have two of them now. If you're going to buy the 944 make sure you know a lot about them, or know someone who knows a lot about them, because they can be expensive to fix, like any German classic.

Here are my two cars:

[link] this one for reliable transport and somewhat sporty driving. It also has roll-on house paint to make it white (it used to be a black car!). Every seat is from a different car so none of the cloth matches. No power steering (like it better that way). The lip on the bottom is actually from a volvo, not a bmw, but it fits :D

And of course this offroad one for... well, fuckin around with. Me and a buddy just took out the exhaust and driveshaft the other day to replace the guibo. Going to the dealer today to get a radiator fan shroud. Later going to get some shocks from an e39 5 series for the back suspension. Fun car to screw around with

sorry for the late reply.

the mechanical side of owning a car like the 944 doesn't worry me in the least. i have friends that are far more knowlegable than me, so i hav that aspect covered, the thing that worries me a little is the cost of spare parts. i don't intend to deal with the bodywork because of the trackday plans i'm having, but things like engine parts, diferentials and stuff like that can be costly with a car like this.
i've owned a Peugeot Mi16 ([link] not this one but the same car) which i bought with a damaged crankshaft, thinking how it's an old car and not all that exclusive i'd get the parts i need for a low price. the crank alone would have cost me over 1000 euros at the dealership, and 300 (what i payed for the car btw) for a used one. in the end i had to sell the car to a colector, because i needed the money. the guy opened the engine and almost had a stroke, the pistons were purple, the crank was blue and purple with the oil burned into it. the gearbox was so badly damaged that it was scraped on the spot.
i asked the guy that i bought it from what for fuck's sake was he doing with the car, and he sead that he forgot he was in fourth gear and slamed it into first while he was racing some joker in a honda.
anyway i got a litle sidetracked there :P

to make a long story short right now i'm looking a car that i can use to play with in the bends and maybe sometimes on the track. and this 944 with the price it's at is perfect for me, because of the FR layout and the egine serviced and suspention replaced with brand new parts.

You should have tally-marks on the side for each zombie that died at the hands of that skid plate
