N1!

We have same kind of idea. I like the color balance in your render a lot more though. It is not as bright making it much nicer for the eye.

Minimalistic, lovely. Go.

I am so beyond jealous.

I love the lighting and the material used on it. It looks so realistic in ways.

That's a great picture! Reminds me of some of the backgrounds for KDE. Saying that, would you mind doing a 1024x768 for my linux partition?

[link] that is the wallpaper version, it's bigger than 1024x768 but it is still the proper ratio, so it should be fine.

well, i could do a low res example of why.

see, because of it being low dynamic range, it doesnt preserve that brightness through the blurry reflections on the gears... so... when i make floating point precision, and it does preserve that brightness, the entire surface of the gears is white, and it looks less attractive. it all just has to do with the way i had the hdr environment positioned...

Right, cause the hdr is causing a sort of brightness-bleed. Are you running a bump-map/normal map on the gear surface? What I envision looks very much like a chromed gear, and should be smooth surfaced... But the fact that so much of your gear top is flat defeats the purpose in the example you showed me there, shux. Thanx for trying ;P

Aww, the little ones are telling secrets and the big one feels left out.
At least that's what went through MY head.
