So I took the initiative to write sort of an update or a direction I've wanted to take with my art and writing. The initiative itself was inspired by one of my dear friends after reading her latest and newest journal entry.
After years of wanting a PC Drawing Tablet, I was able to get a few months back. I've been mostly experimenting with it, and my latest drawings probably show some immaturity and beginner approach to graphic drawing.
My latest graphic piece is called, "Lolita" and is based off of Lana Del Rey's debut album, Born to Die. The name itself is a title of one of the songs available on Lana's deluxe version of her album. I love the themes that Lana's album explores, and it draws a lot of its literary ideas from the "novel by Vladimir Nabokov, written in English and published in 1955." Yes...I am referencing Wikipedia because I forgot his name. :3
If interested, here is the link to the novel's Wikipedia page: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lolita
Lana Del Rey's album should be listed under the Popular Music section of this article but it is not
"Although Nabokov's focus is mainly on Humbert's infatuation with Lolita, the name has become synonymous with seductive or sexually precocious or sexually responsive young girls." So my latest piece will reflect the posh lifestyle that is described throughout Born to Die as a whole, but focuses on the persona of this particular unnamed Lolita character. It is taking me a bit longer to finish, and I have learned different techniques for myself that work with my style. I've recently been able to successfully do detailed layering of hair, which I was trying to work up to. I'm not going to give this piece a deadline, but after it's worked on, I will be posting it for sure.
Though my art production has dwindled down after High School, there have been a few pieces I have pumped out that weren't necessarily for anything or anyone (judging by the quality of them...yikes). I miss doing my art, and being in school now doesn't help the fact that buying the quality materials I like is hard right now.
So, my recent art consists of random painted pages on watercolour paper. I will be scanning those and uploading them soon but again not posting any designated timeline. Because we all know, I have an aching audience waiting desperately for my art to be released. *sarcasm* :3
Well...this has been an update of my situation and current art rambles!
