DUE TO POPULAR REQUEST, NEXT ROUND's DUE DATE HAS BEEN EXTENDED BY A WEEK. THE NEW DEADLINE IS FRIDAY, MARCH 23RD.

It took a few days, but the judge has gotten back to us! She is the wonderful Fei / Celeste - she does not have dA, but still took the time out of her day to judge us all accordingly. I am pasting all of the information here for you all to see. I was debating on just noting every individual their feedback but that's a bit of work!

Keep in mind this is all constructive feedback to help us improve on our own art! Everyone did an excellent job and we are always impressed by the work people put into art! Let's continue to grow together!

Dissidia Aces Round One Entry by Godlis
Composition: 18
Creativity: 13
Overall Artistic Execution: 19
Overall Brief Execution: 15
Grand Total: 65/100
Judge’s Notes:
The line work around the characters, Zell and Tiz are well done. The outlines are clean and shape the human figures nicely. Even though the Zell and Tiz have simple details, the anatomy is well proportioned. However, the special effects around the hands colliding with each other is distracting. There is no need to cover or blur the middle the canvas with a light effect. The characters fists colliding with each other is the center of the painting, Thus, it creates the atmosphere and conveys the message that the art piece is trying to portray. Covering the message of the art piece can be confusing. The viewers can be distracted looking at the unnecessary extra effects in the art piece. As the result, the audience will be unable to focus on the human figures and background. Unfortunately, the artist has point deduction for lateness.

Noctis vs. Terra - DAC7R1 by xDrifterr
Composition: 17
Creativity: 17
Overall Artistic Execution: 20
Overall Brief Execution: 25
Grand Total: 79/100
Judge’s Notes:
The details on Noctis and Terra’s clothes are straightforward and easy to recognize. The clothes are the most notable elements in the paintings. The way Noctis and Terra is positioned in the painting indicates a sense of fluid motion. Drawing characters doing dynamic poses in a montioned environment is admirable. However, painting in this type of scene is difficult. The motion in the environment and fire in the background is too blurry to decipher. This blurred scenery can distort the audience’s focus to analyse the painting. It is hard for the viewer to recognise the type of environment the painting takes place. The characters, Noctis and Terra are easy to recognise thanks to how clothes are well crafted. However, anatomy of both characters seem distorted, specifically the limbs, hands, and feet.

Overall Brief Execution: 25
Grand Total: 62/100
Judge’s Notes:
The cell shading on the overall is simple and clean (pun maybe intended). The shading on Faris’s armor and Linaly’s clothes help shape the image as a whole. In addition, the flower field in the background allows the painting to have a certain level of depth. Yet,  how characters are positioned and posed in the other hand, seem stiff. Linaly and Faris’s posture and body language appears as if they are having an argument rather than them fighting one another. The body language does not exactly convey what the artist initially wanted the characters to do in the painting.

Overall Artistic Execution: 16
Overall Brief Execution: 25
Grand Total:77/100
Judge’s Notes:
The depth and perspective of this art piece is very well placed. The viewer can sense that there is dynamic movement in the painting. The raindrops are subtle, which is a smart choice since the special effects of the rain does not overwhelm the painting. The anatomy of Faris and Linaly in the other hand seems disproportionate. While Linaly’s posture is easier to understand, Faris’s pose is a bit confusing to read his actions. The viewer can see Linaly commanding the charging chocobos into battle. Faris’s pose in the other hand, seems out of place and it does not look like he is doing a battle stance.

Grand Total: 69/100
Judge’s Notes:
Even though the background and environment is bland, it’s simple enough to not distract the battle between Tifa and Meliadoule. Tifa’s and Meliadoule’s clothes and armor are well done and easily distinguished. Meliadoule’s pose is fluid with her sword swing and her robe follows her movements nicely. Tifa’s pose however, is odd and does not fit in relation to Meliadoule’s pose. Tifa’s posture is very awkward and it can confuse the audience, “Why is her leg lifted when evading a sword swing?” The direction of where Tifa is facing also questionable. Shouldn’t Tifa be facing in the direction of her attacker? Especially when she is trying to dodge? The slow motion special effects on Meliadoule’s sword may not have been necessary to be painted in a fluid scene.

Dissidia Ace Cycle 07, Round 1 by Sorshania
Composition: 11
Creativity: 15
Overall Artistic Execution: 11
Overall Brief Execution: 23
Grand Total: 60/100
Judge’s Notes:
This art piece seems more abstract. Props to the artist attempting to paint a unique environment interacting with a Final Fantasy Tactics spell. The artist seems to try paint a shifting scene by blending the clouds in background hints of the same purple color as the lightning. However, the poses on both Meliadoul and Tifa seems very stiff. While it is easy to decipher that Meliadoul is casting a spell to a attack her opponent, Tifa’s pose is rather… awkward to look at. It is hard to tell what kind of pose or action that Tifa is trying to do.

Dissidia Aces Cycle 07 Round 1: Zell vs Tiz by lemfern
Composition: 10
Creativity: 13
Overall Artistic Execution: 11
Overall Brief Execution: 25
Grand Total:  59/100
Judge’s Notes:
Even though this painting has a sense of depth and perspective, it is little hard to understanding what is going. It is hard to decipher if the painting takes place in a lab, an aquatic building, or elsewhere. Zell’s posture is very stiff and his spine and back anatomy is disproportionate. Thus, it does not mix well with the “charge up” special effect that surrounds him. Tiz’s figure is barely recognizable. It is also very hard to distinguish what kind of action Tiz is doing in relation to Zell. Judging by the bright circular effect surrounding Tiz, he is probably trying to create a shield to counter Zell’s incoming move. Or it wave of light effect. Again, it is very hard to tell.
