With that being said, I’ll start working on the entrance sheets for the next cycle as well, so please look forward to that!
Now on to the results:
Copperjellyroll v. Moehypertunapyun00 v. [Insert Boss Here]
SnowWolfMystic v. utenafangirl v. FireofAnubis
Nick-Ian v. Yumeih v. [Insert Boss Here]
Enaxn v. oOFlorianeOo v. [Insert Boss Here]
I have lots of feedback for our contestants this time, so, please, if you would like to have it, just leave a message!
The final round:
For the main tournament it is Copperjellyroll (Ventus) vs Utenafangirl (Fujin)!
For the sub tournament it is Nick-Ian (Kadaj) vs oOFlorianeOo (Zidane).
I'll try to fix the bracket later, but without Gen's original file this might take a little while, so please consult this journal instead. I know the bracket shows three-way battles as the finals, but this is how it will be done now. I hope you understand.
The assignment is simple:
Draw the characters battling it out in a Final Fantasy capital, like Bevelle or Luxerion or whatever capital city in Final Fantasy you can think of. (If you have a city in mind but aren’t sure, just let me know and I’ll tell you whether it is a capital / capital enough.) However, there is a twist! Though the cities should be in good condition in the game, you should draw it as a real battlefield. This means you should try and transform the city into a ruin.
The deadline: September 30, at 23:59! This should give everyone enough time to draw their entries, even with the new school year starting for most.
Good luck everyone!!
If you still have the feedback I'd love to have mine please ;u;
And also, regarding the final round, let me just make sure: the art is meant to be 1v1 right (Because wahhh I really wanted to draw a massive brawl for the final round, but 1v1 is fine too ;u
Good luck to you :iconUtenafangirl: !! I can't wait!
Yes, of course! Here is your feedback~ I hope it helps!
Your composition is very good and the special effects and lighting lovely. Your poses in the picture are dynamic, which is great! However, Abbys Worm gets cut off at the top, making it look ever so slightly less scary. Locke’s details get lost because there are so many teeth around him. It also looks like Ventus has already been stabbed in the head and soon more stabbing will follow. This is of course no problem if you want it to be like that, but I’m assuming you’ll want him to dodge. All this can be solved by using a slightly bigger canvas – though you already use a large canvas, so maybe making the characters a little tinier would be better in your case. With a bigger canvas (or smaller characters) you’d be able to have some more space between the characters and their attacks, making it easier for us to see what’s going on.
Yes, it's 1v1. Sorry you don't get the massive brawl! (Though I can assure you that there will be one in the next cycle.) But maybe you can have fun destroying cities as well? :'D
The special effects are amazing, especially the ice and Axel's thrown circle blade. The weather condition is very convincing and the rain dripping from the characters really completes this. Your drawing is very dynamic and it is easy to see they are all working together to fight Diablos! (My friend said how Diablos gets kneed in the face is very nicely done!) There are a few points that need some more attention, though. It seems like the background is just a little less well thought out than the characters are. Due to the colours being very similar, details get lost. (This can be seen at three points in the drawing: Axel's weapon and the wing, Jecht's pants and Diablos' head / neck and the upper right corner.) A tip for you is keeping an eye on your colours and checking whether the similar colours don't cause loss of detail / make sure similar colours don't make it hard to see what's going on.
Man, there's gonna be a good chance I'll be joining next cycle
I'd also like to read my feedback as well :3
Here is your feedback! I hope it helps.
The details of the background are great and how you coloured is pleasant to the eye. Locke looks nice! The perspective you used is interesting, but it still needs a little work. In the background it works really well, but on the characters it's not quite right. Furthermore, because you used line-art for the characters, but not the rest, the composition doesn't feel whole. It is also generally better to draw all of your characters and creatures, unless it really adds to your composition. Finally, the knife Ventus is blocking, seems to be resting on the Keyblade, rather than actually being blocked. A way to improve this is by tilting the Keyblade a little more - I haven't played the game with Ventus yet, but if you block in KH with Sora or Roxas, their Keyblade is vertical. This is because it creates (the illusion of) a bigger surface to block. Furthermore, adding some speedlines to the knife gives it a more action-y feel. It would also help if the tip of the knife was just a tad bit lower
Can't wait for the next cycle ! I would like to stay in the main tournament next cycle x)
Your use of colour and lighting is impressive. The detail of the tsunami destroying the pier was a really nice touch and the composition was good. Even so, there seemed to be an imbalance in the overall composition, due to Stella having quite a few details and Kadaj and Diablos very little. It makes it seem like less effort was put into drawing those characters. It also looks a little like Diablos is fighting a battle behind the tsunami, as if he is not part of the battle between Stella and Kadaj. So, a tip for you is to try to add an equivalent amount of detail to people in the background as the people in the front. As for the Diablos seemingly not being a part of the battle... that could probably be fixed by adding one more meteor and really putting it in front of the tsunami, or adding a splash or something.
I was wondering if I could have the feedback for my entry?
Your Tiamat is great and the coloured lines really add a little something extra. The perspective you used is interesting and the poses were really nice. However, the drawing was crowded and seemed to allow little room for action. Our tip for you is to use a bigger canvas in pictures with large creatures in it, to make things less crowded
