Senshi Name: Sailor Leiagore
Civilian Name: Milena ‘Mila’ Gorski
Senshi Of: Mountains, Strength, Life
Prompt: Your character reflects on her or his past. Word limit: 3,500
Mila’s waiting to be discharged when Kalani shows up. Mila doesn’t need the wince to know she looks bad - she saw her reflection in the bathroom earlier - but the injuries are superficial, nothing that won’t heal in a few days. Perk of being a senshi; slightly quicker healing than the average person and even then Mila’s healing rate is at the top end.
“You okay?” Kalani asks. She places the holdall she came in with onto the bed next to Mila.
“They took most of the pain away, so now everything just tugs when I move,” Mila replied. “Please tell me that’s a change of clothes.”
Kalani nods. “Can you manage?”
Softly, Mila mutters, “Let’s find out.”
Fortunately, another perk of being a senshi is a private room, so there are no witnesses to Mila struggling out of the hospital clothes and into her own. She does need Kalani’s help but they’ve done this before - and with the situation reversed - so there’s no awkwardness there. There is some awkwardness in what Kalani’s chosen for her to wear.
“I cannot go out wearing this,” Mila states bluntly.
The grin on Kalani’s face says she had hoped for this reaction. “Then next time pack your own hospital bag.”
Mila rolls her eyes because of course Kalani has a pre-packed hospital bag, just in case. “I wasn’t planning on being in the hospital. Or my outfit getting destroyed.” She knew it was a lost cause when even her underwear was blood-soaked. At least not all of it was her blood. Or did that make it worse?
“Well now you have incentive,” Kalani says.
And Mila reluctantly puts on the t-shirt that says ‘I know this is your eye-line but my face is up here’ over an upward pointing arrow - a present from her younger sister who thought it was hilarious and Mila thought she’d never actually wear. She then hurriedly pulls on her jacket and closes it, hiding the words from sight.
Then, whilst they wait for the doctor or nurse to come and tell her she’s okay to leave, Mila asks the question she’s been mulling over since she first glimpsed her reflection in the bathroom mirror. “Did you see this?”
Kalani, who is now sitting on the bed beside her, asks, “Which this?”
“Me, beaten up. Or getting beaten up. Or something.” She’s been trying to think of the best way to ask the question for almost an hour but still feels like she’s failing. “That’s why you grilled me about my combat scores at the Academy and made me do the extra practice, isn’t it?”
___________________
They were less than a month into the ninth year - though it was only Mila’s third at the school - when Kalani asked to meet her in the gymnasium one afternoon. Mila, whilst a little puzzled, just went along with it.
“Your combat scores are atrocious,” Kalani said, already there when Mila walked through the door.
The words were spoken as a statement but it still felt like an accusation and Mila’s hackles went up. “It’s not really my priority,” she replied, folding her arms over her chest. “I have other subjects to work on.”
Sat on a bench against one wall, Kalani leant forward, resting her elbows on her knees. “It needs to be a priority. Out of everyone else in the class, you are the one most likely to end up in an actual fight after graduation. You need to be able to defend yourself. You need to be able to fight back.”
“I’m a senshi,” she argued. “I don’t need punches and kicks to defend myself.”
“Your primary attack is to stand still and not be moved,” Kalani pointed out, “to be a mountain. What if your opponent is strong enough to punch through a mountain? You take that hit and at best you take damage. At worst, you die.”
Mila shook her head, not wanting to think about it.
“I’m not saying you need to be the next martial arts master,” Kalani said. “I’m just saying you need to learn the basics and how to make them work for you. Being a mountain will only get you so far.”
“Then I’ll learn it later,” Mila argued. “After graduation. I’ve got time.” Perk of being a senshi, longevity.
“You don’t know that,” Kalani said, her voice quieter, softer. Going back to her previous tone, she added, “Or did you miss the part where the school was under attack?”
Mila hadn’t missed it because she’d been - apparently illegally - drafted to the front lines. “That was a one off.”
“Which is all it takes,” Kalani reasoned. “The day after graduation you could walk down the street and be attacked by a thief wanting your bag. Are you going to transform and take him out as Sailor Leiagore. Because senshi have been sued for excess force before.”
Mila didn’t want this. She didn’t want to be at this school where you had to learn to fight. She didn’t want Kalani to make her fight because Kalani was easily the best thing about the place and she didn’t want to resent her. She didn’t want to admit Kalani was probably right.
“You’re not going to give up about this, are you?” she asked quietly.
Kalani just shook her head.
And, though she didn’t know it at the time, the mountain moved for the heavens.

“Something like that,” Kalani replies. She doesn’t go into details, which Mila thinks she might be grateful for.
“You never said anything.”
Kalani shrugs. “I wasn’t Atlas then. Not properly. So I didn’t say anything about the vision at the time because I wasn’t ready to go into why I got visions. After I came out…there didn’t seem any point in bringing it up. You could hold your own in a fight, which was the whole point.”
“You could have told me,” Mila says.
She isn’t talking about the vision and Kalani, as always, knows that. “I know.”
Mila bumps their arms together - instantly regretting it because apparently she has a really big bruise there - and says, “You know what else we haven’t talked about?”
And she smirks because straight away Kalani knows exactly what she’s talking about. “You’re as bad as Roshan.”
Ignoring the accusation, Mila exclaims, “She bought you an apartment!”
“She didn’t buy me anything,” Kalani refutes. “The apartment was already hers and it still is hers. We’re basically just house-sitting.”
“People don’t just let you stay at their spare apartment,” Mila points out, getting no small amount of enjoyment at Kalani being defensive. And blushing. There’s definitely a blush there.
“I saved her life.”
“You saved mine. I didn’t give you an apartment,” Mila points out.
“You don’t have an apartment to give,” Kalani replies.
“Yes but I didn’t give you anything.”
“I didn’t need you to give me anything.”
“But you took the apartment.”
“Roshan set fire to the last one.”
“That’s what insurance is for.”
“I could give it back,” Kalani threatens.
“You can’t return a used gift,” Mila tells her. “And you’re avoiding the point of this conversation.”
“There is no point to this conversation,” Kalani decides.
Mila opens her mouth to get directly to the point, when the door opens and a profusely apologetic nurse enters with her discharge paperwork. She takes it with a sigh and signs where indicated, taking the bag of offered medications with appropriate instructions enclosed. She then lets Kalani take her home and because she is honestly appreciative, she leaves the topic of the apartment and its owner alone. For now.

Senshi Name: Sailor Leiagore
Civilian Name: Milena ‘Mila’ Gorski
Senshi Of: Mountains, Strength, Life
Race: Leiagorn, Alcyonic (human-race from the planet Leiagore in the Alcyone System)
Gender: Female
Age: 21
Birthday: 6th July (Cancer)
Height: 6’10”
Civilian appearance: Mila is very tall, towering over most people around her. She has broad shoulders and wide hips, with a slight curve to her waist. Her skin is pale, littered with freckles all over. Unfortunately, she burns easily in hot sun, so tends to wear sun block or wide-brimmed hats in summer. Her auburn hair falls in waves below her shoulders and whilst she prefers to wear it loose, she’ll tie it back if it’s likely to get in the way. Mila is as likely to wear skirts and dresses as she is shorts and trousers, though she’d never wear anything shorter than mid-thigh. Coming from a rural area, she usually goes for practical clothing but is branching out into more fashion-oriented wear since she’s now living in a city.
Special abilities: Healing: Whilst many of the previous senshi of the planet Leiagore have displayed incredible physical strength in both their human and senshi forms, Mila has instead awakened a rarer ability, possessed by fewer than 5% of her predecessors - the ability to heal. She’s relatively new to this ability and hasn’t used it to treat anything more serious than some deep cuts and bruises, so she’s unaware of where her limits lie just yet.
Backstory: Mila was born into a close, loving family in a rural area of the planet Leiagore in the Alcyone System, the biggest system in the Pleiadian Alliance. Growing up, stories of sailor senshi were told as fables and to reassure children that bad things wouldn’t happen. Whilst the Areto Iphito Academy - known colloquially as Senshi School - was known and revered as the most prestigious school in the Alliance, it was always something that happened to other people - a neighbour’s cousin’s friend might have known someone that was a candidate but didn’t get in - and that was as close as anyone got.
Then, aged fourteen, Mila awoke as Sailor Leiagore and, after being discovered by another senshi of her system, was informed that since she was below the age of majority, she faced compulsory enrolment into the Areto Iphito Academy. So Mila went. All eyes were on her, since there was only ever one reason for a new student - an underage senshi. Unfortunately, school was never Mila’s favourite place back in her home town where she had friends and the subject material wasn’t either completely foreign or miles ahead of anything she’d ever expected to achieve. She struggled to cope with the workload, expectations and homesickness, which culminated in a breakdown. Fortunately, she was found by Kalani, who was able to talk her down from the ledge and a strong friendship was formed in the aftermath, with Kalani helping Mila find her feet in the strange new world the Academy symbolised.
Upon graduation, Mila - like all senshi from her system - was conscripted into the Alcyone military. Having already been forced to attend the Academy, Mila was dead set against this, searching for any excuse not to get out of it. Fortunately, somewhere along the line, someone realised she wasn’t cut out for the full military life and she was given the option to join the reserve forces - it would mean giving up a weekend every month but would allow her to live a civilian life the rest of the time. Sensing this was the best offer she was going to get, Mila accepted. This allowed her to do what she really wanted. She chose to do so outside the Alcyone System, even though having to travel back and forth for her military obligations would be taxing (though being a senshi did offer some discounts and queue-jumping opportunities). A couple of years on, she will reluctantly admit that it isn’t so bad, though only to people who would never repeat it.
Personality: Mila can be shy, so comes across as quiet on first meeting. She is loyal and will do anything for those she cares about but can have trouble taking that first step to get to know people. She does have a habit of bottling things up and can get anxious when thrust into new places or situations. Whilst she’s gotten better at dealing with her anxiety, she still does suffer from time-to-time and does need reminding by her friends that she can rely on them to help out when they can.
When in a situation she is familiar with and surrounded by friends or family, Mila is revealed to be a smiling, occasionally sarcastic individual. She is always willing to help out friends and family, though is less good about asking or accepting help in return. It’s a sign that she truly considers you a close friend if she will ask for your help.
Henshin Item and Description: Mila’s transformation item is a thin rectangular broach, about two-and-a-half inches long with five coloured gems evenly spaced along it - each represents one of the stars in the Alcyone system. From left to right, they are orange, grey, red, indigo and turquoise. The base of the broach is pale green in colour. Mila alternates between wearing on her left side, either on her collar or chest, or having it shoved in a pocket (depending on how she’s feeling about being easily identifiable as an Alcyone senshi).
Henshin Phrase: Power of Leiagore!
Henshin Description: If she’s wearing her broach, Mila says her transformation phrase and touches the broach with the index and middle fingers of her right hand. If it’s in her pocket, she pulls it out and holds it to her chest as she says the phrase. When the transformation is activated, the five gems light up and burst from the broach. They rise up in the air, spiralling around each other, before slamming down onto Mila’s head in quick succession, creating a blinding light. When it fades, Sailor Leiagore is revealed.
Senshi Appearance: Sailor Leiagore wears a long military coat that hangs straight to her ankles and has epaulets on the shoulders. The coat is mostly pale green with light blue sections at the wrists, the top section of the chest and shoulders, and the bottom area of the coat. These sections are angled; the wrist portion is narrower on the inside, coming to a point on the outside of the forearm; the blue section on the torso is wide at the shoulders and comes to a point mid-sternum; the bottom of the coat turns blue from mid-thigh at the front and angles down to a point mid-calf at the back. The inner lining of the coat is entirely this pale blue shade. A strip of reddish brown runs around all seams and where separate colours merge. A two-coloured stiff collar encircles Leiagore’s neck, with a small gap at the front; the bottom stripe is white, whilst the top is the same pale green as the main coat. On each upper arm, on the outer edge, is an arrowhead with flicked up tails, each orange in colour.
An orange sash wraps from Leiagore’s left shoulder (under the epaulet) down to her right hip. It crosses over a wide white belt that encircles her waist. The epaulets on her shoulders are red-brown and have a simple design, decorated only with a single, pale green stripe, indicating Leiagore’s basic form. Whilst not immediately obvious from the front, a pale blue collar, edged in red-brown hangs from the epaulets. The side edges are vertical until halfway down before turning inward to form a point. It hangs over the back of the sash.
Leiagore wears a pair of form fitting white trousers, which are tucked into pale green, knee-high boots that have a red-brown stripe around the top. She also wears a pair of white gloves on her hands that extend up to mid-bicep, with a red-brown stripe around the top.
On her head is a white beret with a red-brown band. The beret is shaped so it slopes to the right and a ‘cap-badge’ sits above Leiagore’s left eye. The badge bear’s Leiagore’s symbol, though slightly adapted. The badge is a pentagon with a red-brown border. The back is light blue and features a tall, pale green, three-peaked mountain, with the left peak slightly shorter than the central one but still taller than the right one. There are five coloured ‘stars’ in an arch over the mountain. Going left to right they are orange, grey, red, indigo and turquoise in colour, with the red one residing above the top peak of the mountain.
Underneath the coat, rarely seen as Leiagore will usually fight in the long coat, is a pale blue sleeveless, round necked top. The neck and sleeves are edged in red-brown and there’s a pale green belt at her waist, narrower than the one worn outside the coat. On the left breast of the shirt is the orange arrowhead with the flicked up tails, with a single pale green stripe underneath it. On the right side of the top are three vertical stripes going from shoulder to waist. The one on Leiagore’s left-hand-side is pale green, the central one is pale blue and her right-hand-side one is red-brown.
Weapon and Description: NA
Attack Name and Description:
Terra Firma: Sailor Leiagore plants her feet and pale green energy rises up from the ground, through her legs into her body, filling her from head to toe. From that moment, so long as her feet remain firmly planted on the ground, Leiagore is empowered with the strength of a mountain. She is all but immovable and has access to immense strength. However, her movement is severely restricted - if she lifts one foot from the ground, the connection is broken and she has to reset it to regain the strength. If she merely slides a foot along the ground, the connection remains intact and the technique remains in place.
Serra: The ground rises up in a series of sharp spikes, reminiscent of the teeth of a saw. Sailor Leiagore has some control over the size and distribution of the spikes, able to choose a wider spread if dealing with multiple enemies in a large space, as opposed to one enemy in a confined environment. Whilst the obvious use is to create large spikes to impale enemies, Leiagore has equal amount of success using the attack to create hundreds of much smaller spikes two or three inches tall but spread over a wide area, forcing her enemies to stand on them (usually repeatedly when they jump away from the first lot of spikes only to end up standing on more).
Guardian Name and Description: NA
Other information: Mila, Kalani and Roshan are all senshi from the Pleiadian Alliance, which is a group of allied star systems - what we would know as the Pleiades. They are each from separate senshi teams - Mila from the Alcyone System, Kalani from the Atlas System and Roshan from the Merope System - but through circumstances are friends and live together.
Teammates: Sailor Atlas (Kalani Luna) and Sailor Kairos (Roshan Jyotshi)

Teammates: Sailor Atlas (Kalani Luna) and Sailor Kairos (Roshan Jyotshi)
