Yeah, it's been a while, I know. Three years ago I promised that Blackwell Chronicles would be launching soon, and it goes without saying that it hasn't... nor has much of it been completed beyond what I already posted. Quite frankly, I set unrealistic goals for myself. The truth of the matter is, I'm not a great artist. I'm not bad, and perhaps I'm even good, but not great. Not to the level that my comic needs. Even with the best of my artwork, what you don't see is just how many hours it takes to complete something that a better artist could accomplish in a fraction of the time. Completing a single page is a nightmare, and to think I could pull off an entire comic on my own was ridiculous notion.
So... what now? Is the comic dead?
Well... not exactly.
I've come to realize over the years that I am a far better writer than an artist. Or at least, I've become one; the old comic was never planned out well in advance, so there was never much of that to shine through. So what does this mean? Well... Blackwell Chronicles may be happening, albeit in a different format than originally intended.
In essence, the new idea is to turn it into an illustrated story. It would still be released like a comic, one page at a time, and while each page would have art it would be primarily a story. The layout would vary page-to-page, depending on what I'm trying to convey. Some pages may even be comics, more or less, if the situation is one that could be made clear purely through visuals. I understand if this is a bit hard to convey through words, so I hope to complete a few example pages at some point in the future. When? Well... who knows.
In the off chance that any of you are still around, or if any of you still give a shit bear with me. I can't guarantee that this will happen, but I can promise you that Blackwell Chronicles is something I think about literally every day of my life. It's always been a passion project for me, and the fact that I'm pushing 30 now and still want to do it should make it pretty evident.
Anyway, that's that. Hopefully this works out. If not... well, you know. C'est la vie.
