Paranthropus boisei, Zinj, the nutcracker man. Equipped with huge molars and massive jaw muscles, these relatives of ours from 2 million years ago seemed to have taken the vegetarian route, by specializing on feeding tough plant material. Despite known since 1959 when Louis Leakey described them, they remain elusive to us. We have several lovely skulls, but very little information about the rest of the skeleton. With such robust skull, what might have the rest of the body looked like? I sincerely hope that puzzle will be solved during my lifetime.
