Woolly rhino
Woolly rhino (Coelodonta antiquitatis). What a marvelous creature it was. It first evolved in the Tibetan plateu 3,7 million years ago. Preadapted to the cool climate, once the ice sheets spread, so did the woolly rhino, expanding their range throughout Eurasia. And so much is known about them that it boggles the mind. Our ancestors observed them and painted their likeness to cave walls. We find their remains almost perfectly preserved in permafrost and we can analyze what they ate by literally scraping their last meal from their teeth.

Hi everyone, Hope everyone had lovely Halloween. :)

This post is just to let you know that Maija (Eurwentala) and me started a society6 shop,

Paranthropus

Paranthropus boisei, Zinj, the nutcracker man. Equipped with huge molars and massive jaw muscles, these relatives of ours from 2 million years ago seemed to have taken the vegetarian route, by specializing on feeding tough plant material. Despite known since 1959 when Louis Leakey described them, they remain elusive to us. We have several lovely skulls, but very little information about the rest of the skeleton. With such robust skull, what might have the rest of the body looked like? I sincerely hope that puzzle will be solved during my lifetime.

Nyt on pakko sanoa, että sinun tekemä Paleoart on kertakaikkisen upeaa! Se on kuin sekoitus von Wrightejä ja Charles Knightiä!
