Sorry if you receive a duplicate alert on this-- I'm having issues with the journal utility, today.  Hopefully the third time's a charm...

I recently created a paperdoll spread that is featured in this month's issue of Doll Collector Magazine.  The reason I'm mentioning it here is because I wanted to share a potential opportunity with you guys.

You see, my paperdoll was based on my Snail Princess pixeldoll of a few years ago.  I always liked the basic design and, when I found out that Doll Collector takes paperdoll submissions, I decided to recreate it and design a few more outfits for her.

If any of you are interested in trying your hand at paperdolls, please check out the submission guidelines at Doll Collector (you can also browse the Round Up Themes in the sidebar for future content ideas).

They're constantly looking for new work (of all genres), they pay $50.00 for accepted submissions, and all copyrights revert back to the artist after the spread has been published.  But please be aware that they want unpublished material-- so don't post your finished work online unless you okay it with them first (or you may inadvertently breach your contract).

The pixeling community is one of the most creative groups of people I've ever met so I hope at least a few of you take up this challenge-- I'd love to see your dolls in print, soon! :)

I actually got both journal alerts in my inbox, just so you know hehe.

Congrats on getting your work in a magazine. That's exciting. =D

I was thinking of making a paper doll ID for myself months ago and this just reminded me of it. I may try my hand at this just for kicks. I liked your outfit designs and how vibrant they are. =)

Sorry about the double-alerts; DA's journal system doesn't like to cooperate with me... ^^'

I love your idea for a paperdoll ID-- how clever! I'd love to see that! :D

And thank you for your kind comments-- I appreciate it!

It's okay haha, I've seen some instances that DA doesn't alert others of journals either. So I think it's still a bit buggy at times.

I think it's a cute idea but I haven't drawn it out yet, we'll see. =)

You're welcome. =D Your artwork is always inspiring.

Also, did you work with a template? I was looking at their page size, and I'd like to know how big that is.

And what size is your doll? It said 8"x10" minimum. Also, did you put the tabs on there or did they?

Actually, it was the other way around for me, paper-dolling to pixel-dolling, it was my love of making paper dolls that lead me to discover pixel dolls. I was painting historical fashion paper dolls on the computer back before I knew dolling was an actual hobby. I think this is a super nifty idea, perhaps one day I can actually put my paper doll making skills to good use! :D

Also, congrats on having your paper dolls being featured in that magazine! I remember that little pixel doll of the Snail Princess very well, and always admired her cuteness.

Thank you, Leah! I'd like to do a few other princesses in the same vein, soon... :)

If you ever get back into paper-dolling, I'd love to see what you make! Your clothing designs for your pixel-dolls are so cute-- they'd be perfect for paper-dolls, too!

You're so welcome Dalliann! :huggle: Good luck with your next paper dolls, I'm sure they'll be beautiful. :la:

I've got the sudden itch to get out my sketchbook and start drawing some little girl characters that I have floating around in my head. I get such a kick drawing cute outfits for them. :giggle:
