Brett Buckley is a mediocre father and husband. When a chance encounter with a filthy hobo renders him suddenly undead, he begins to fear that losing his family could cost him the last of his dwindling humanity. He must work hard to win back their love and respect, all the while trying to figure out his new place in the world, and attempting to reconcile his vegetarian morals with his insatiable hunger for living flesh…

Undad is a treatise on depression, a complex family drama, and a rip-roaring zombie gorefest, all with a self-aware streak of dark humour.

Undad was recently successfully funded on Kickstarter. Backers have early access to Chapter One.

The Undad miniseries of four chapters will be published around May 2015.

My name is Shane W Smith, and I'm the writer of the Undad miniseries. I posted an ad in the Deviantart forums in October last year seeking artists, and Andrea and Diego responded to my ad.

I'm extremely pleased that they did.

From the very first, their communication was open, honest, and professional. Their enthusiasm for the project shone through in their emails, and made the entire creative process a genuine pleasure. They negotiated a realistic deadline for the work, and proceeded to deliver their pages completely to spec, and well ahead of schedule. Before delivering finalised pages, they sent thumbnails, pencils, and inks, along with very regular updates, and I was never in any doubt about which stage the project was up to.

I don't need to tell you that their work is of top quality - just look at the sample pages. Amazing stuff. Their style is distinctive and extremely engaging - and Andrea and Diego have a great eye for bringing out the emotion of a scene as well. That's a rare and special talent.

It was an absolute joy to work with Andrea and Diego on Undad, and I very much hope to work with them again in the future.

If you have any questions, I'm happy to answer them. Message me here, or email me: shane@shanewsmith.com

Dear Shane:

It was a pleasure and an honor to work with you in such a beautiful project as Undad was. We hope that everyone who see this journal gets to read Undad. We did our best to give your beautiful story the drawing it deserved, a great deal of the beauty of a drawing is in the quality of the script and yours has plenty of it, the writing of Bret's dad in the hospital is very touching and emotionally powerfull and that gave us the base to make some of our strongest work to the date. We strongly recommend to readers to take a look at Undad, it's really something worth reading.

Best regards!

Andrea and Diego.

P.S. To any other artists that wishes to work with Shane, he is very reliable, creative, with a clear vision of what he wants done and yet he gives you enough space to be creative, he is very polite and easy to work with.
Thanks again for a wonderful creative experience and we hope we get to work with you again some time.
