I love poppies.
the fact that these fragile flowers grow on the hostile grounds in the deepest cities and their strong red color build a nature's contrast to the somber scenery.
they seem fragile and week but still the can grow and bloom there.
Therefore they are a symbol of hope in my opinion. or rather a symbol for never-loosing-the-hope how dark and bad everything around may be...
