I have always thought the reason Ginny is so good for Harry was proved at the end of the sixth book when he tells her he will have to leave her to protect her from the threat of Voldemort. Ginny doesn't cry and understands the reason perfectly. I think they are such a great couple because they seem to understand each other more then anyone else in the trilogy.

This was an awesome, bittersweet moment. I also really like Ginny's character, she's strong just like Harry, and both of them feed off of each other's strength.
