“You feel yourself surrounded by a crowd of mute figures, which seem as if they would fain whisper to you the secrets of the ages” (J.A. Mannculloch on the Quaraing – The Misty Isle of Skye, 1905).
North of the Bealach Ollasgairte at the high point on the road between Uig and Staffin, beneath the cliffs of Meall na Suiramach, stands a ghostly labyrinth of rockly outcrops and spires know as the Quiraing. People have been visiting this haunting cliffs for over 100years, often thrilled or terrified depending on the weather at the time. With the wind rushing around the rocks, it can be a terrifying place to explore.

I was here. Your photo gives me quite the heavy dosage of nostalgia. You picked a great spot.

I'm off to Skye with Pastyguy hopefully in July, really excited. We are camping about the place. I dont suppose you have any tips of where to visit past the obvious storr elgol, fairy pools cullins etc.?

I find the top half of the image really very appealing but I find the bottom half rather disorganised and its not really bringing anything to the shot for me.

take lots of patience with you, skye in the summer is full of midges, esp around water. Get the O/S maps for skye, helps alot of planning shoots (I have many)

Yes, I've heard about the midges, not looking forward to that aspect. will ahve to get some good repellant and cover up but it would be stupid not to go because of the midges. Thanks :)
